St Patrick’s delay as snow hits Rittman area

Rittman Board to Negotiate With OAPSE and Plan Interviews

The Rittman School Board on Monday agreed to begin negotiations with the Ohio Association of Public School Employees Local 226, representing non teaching staff. Superintendent Larry Stucky will serve as the board's representative. The board set March 17 and 24 for Clerk-Treasurer finalist interviews, with hire by April 19, 1976, and discussed 1976 appropriations and state funding.

Watershed project nears completion on Chippewa Creek

Project engineer Tom Jones and biologist Tom Prusa of the Soil Conservation Service reported on Part I of the Chippewa Watershed project nearing completion. Workmen are within one mile of finishing the first phase on Chippewa Creek, begun August 1974 on the Tuscarawas River in Summit County.

Construction Timeline For River Styx Project Part III

The project plans eight miles of channel from River Styx and Route 57 into the village of River Styx, with Part III starting in October 1977 and completion aimed for August 1979. Three dams are scheduled: one on the River Styx by August, a second near Wadsworth by December, and a third near Seville by December 1977, with additional stages continued on Page 3.

Five Homes Robbed On West Sunset Avenue

Five homes along West Sunset Avenue were burglarized between 3:00 and 5:00 a.m. Monday in what police suspect is a single perpetrator. No arrests reported. Items stolen include a hunting bow and knife, camera gear, beer, a purse with cash and cards, and a wallet with credit cards.

Massive drug raid nets 25 arrests across three counties

A Wednesday night and Thursday morning drug sweep in Wayne Medina and Summit counties resulted in 25 arrests. Among those charged were four from Rittman and Sterling and several from Wadsworth, with indictments for possession and sale of hallucinogens and other drugs. Arraignments are set for March 22 in Medina and March 25 in Wayne, with more arrests anticipated.

Vandals Plague Rittman Area With Appliances and Theft

A spate of thefts and break ins hit Rittman in March. A CB base unit and gear vanished from homes on North Seneca and West Sunset, with multiple items recovered at an attempted theft scene. Stereo gear, antennas, a watch, coats, and entry tools were stolen or damaged, affecting several streets including Industrial, Diane, Villa, North Second, North Main, and East Ohio avenues.
