Applecreek Quartet Wins First at Wayne County Fest
The Applecreek quartet took first place at the Wayne County Fest held at Jackson Presbyterian Church on Sunday evening. Sterling earned second place. judge was Miss Frances P. Chaine of Wooster. The Sterling quartet includes E. O. Hart, D. H. Johnson, Russell Hart, and Roscoe Hartzler. The District Fest will be in two weeks and a county fest at church school is planned for the week of April 23. The chosen piece is Schnecker’s arrangement of Recessional God of Our Fathers. Services Held For Doylestown Man
Dr Stepfield, a longtime Doylestown physician and former Wayne County coroner, died after months of illness. Born in Elmira New York seventy five years ago he practiced medicine in Sie Flats New York before moving to Doylestown fifty years ago. He led local affairs as banker publican committee member and school board president and served in the Masonic lodge. Surviving are a son two daughters a stepdaughter ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sons. Funeral service held at Zion Lutheran Church officiated by Rev Myers and Rev Dittmar with burial in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

Liza Thompson, 47, a mother of five, died Wednesday night at 8 30 at the home of Burgess Hargess on Sterling Avenue after complications from influenza. Viewing until Friday noon at Ebert Funeral Chapel, funeral services to be held Sunday afternoon in West Virginia. Survived by five children, including Burgess and four daughters living in Orrville, Syracuse, and at home.
