John Kunkler an American history teacher at Rittman High School wins this week's prize vacation from area merchants. He plans a weekend trip to Columbus or Cleveland area hotels and will enjoy meals for a family starting Saturday breakfast through Sunday dinner.
Wayne County Bookmobile will stop at Marshallville Monday from 5 30 to 8 30 according to Wayne County Librarian Kathrine Schaniz.
Connie Smoot, a senior in Rittman High, will accompany Maria Cuny Casares to Apostoles Argentina in mid July, returning Aug 30. The pair will travel via Cleveland New York Miami Panama Peru Santiago Chile Buenos Aires touching cities and meet Cuny’s relatives. At a City Council meeting Suburban Sanitation Service of Akron sought permission to operate in Rittman raising hopes a city dump may close. John A. McConnell urged near exclusive rights for full garbage removal while stating the firm owns its disposal site. Mayor Ashton Hall supported moving garbage dumping out of the city dump following earlier sanitary concerns raised by the Wayne County Board of Health.
Rittman recreation department schedules fireworks at dark between 9 and 9 30 pm Tuesday in the Industrial Street area due to complaints. Council discusses sanitation contracts, garbage pickup options, and a new Southside parking lot proposal with estimates and temporary permits.
