William Dreshel of the State Economic and Development Department urged Milton Township to adopt a zoning plan and offered a free complete study including soil testing and population growth. Trustees Blatter and Hoover welcomed the plan but stressed residents must want zoning. A 15 member zoning committee will meet monthly through November to assess pros and cons before a possible November 1964 ballot.
Olin Kitts of Salt Street in Rittman was found guilty by a Wayne County jury of breaking and entering and grand larceny for stealing about 168 dollars from the Rittman Garage during the night of January 7 into January 8. The seven women and five men deliberated four hours after being indicted last May. Kitts pleaded innocent at arraignment. Bond of 2000 dollars was continued ten days to permit an appeal by his attorney Charles Johnston Jr. of Wadsworth.

Postmaster H W Mougey announces Ritman Ohio will adopt five digit ZIP 44270 for all correspondence as ZIP Codes go into national effect July 1. He notes faster delivery and fewer misread addresses, saying the code is key to routing and could cut delivery time up to 24 hours.
Councilman John Simonton raised south end parking complaints at Monday's session. Merchants were urged to lease Don Freed's Salt Street and South Main lot for 25 dollars a month. city maintenance would keep the lot in order. Councilman Avery Kinch called it a bargain, noting only a few dollars per month per business.

The defendants argued lack of proof and moved for acquittal on grounds the government failed to present a complete case.
The city ordinance requires all vacant lots within 200 feet of adjacent buildings to be cleared. Residents failing to mow by the stated date face a $50 fine in the mayor's court. The deadline also applies in September with lots due by September 10.
