Alumni Picnic in Central Park Sees Large Rittman Turnout

Robert Wright elected Alumni president for the coming year at the fourth annual Alumni Picnic in Central Park. About 150 teachers and former students attended. out-of-town guests from Detroit to Pittsburgh joined locals in a day of activities and group singing. The 1954 reunion was planned for the third Sunday in June at the Rittman Central Park pavilion.

Dance Review at Barberton High highlights Rittman children

About 35 Rittman children joined Barberton High School’s Norma Valentine Dance Review on Friday June 19 at 8 pm. Performers included Miss Glamour Janice Bowman in Col Jége rare production, bridesmaids Gail Taylor Charlotte Trent Penny Petit Roanna Ramsier Tony Jameson Pamela Buxter Pamela Brown, best man Charles Bowman, and more in multiple numbers. Pupil training began last December under Norman Valentine of Akron with Miss Valentine assisted by Mrs Delone Bowman and others. a future class is planned with Mrs Delene Bowman.

The Rittman Chamber of Commerce sends questionnaires to local businesses asking if they favor parking meters and if current police protection is adequate. Secretary Robert Bodages says cooperation is good and about half the surveys have been returned.

OBC Employees Picnic at Chippewa Lake Park

Rattman Little League Sees Two Tuesday Games

The Rattman Little League played two games Tuesday. Class A game at Apple Creek ended 11 to 3 with Becerra as winning pitcher and Bauman as loser. Class B game at Orrville Cubs home beat the Tigers 5 to 3 with Huff winning and Lambert losing.

About 65 attended the Jerome Kern Musicale held Thursday under the direction of Mrs Robert Davis. Weckesser Wedding Anniversary Observed at Smithville Inn

Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Weckesser of Columbus hosted a Sunday dinner at Smithville Inn for the wedding anniversary of his parents, Mr. and Mrs Co. E. Weckesser, who wed June 30, 1928, at Woodland Methodist Church Akron. The Weckessers have two sons, John and Tim, at home. Attending were relatives from Lancaster and Akron, plus Mrs. Josephine Jeffrits’ guests at Silver Lake. The visitors planned visits to Michigan and Wisconsin after the event.

Expansion To Sunset Metzger Will Expand City Limits

Freymeyer heads to Canton pastorate and town notes

Rev Freymeyer and Mrs Freymeyer will move to Canton on Wood Avenue. The Ey United Brethren Church will host a farewell dinner on June 25 at 6 40 p m. The couple departs after five years serving Rit mag community. Officials discuss sewer plans and park projects including a new wading pool at the municipal pool with a July 1 completion target and fee schedules for staff.

Services Held For Former Resident

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Apostolic Christian Church for Mrs Phace Gowing who died in Akron after a long illness. She was born near Rittman, daughter of David and Elizabeth Steiner. Surviving are son James of Chicago four sisters Lenna Elizabeth of Mansfield Mary and Esther of Akron and brother Sr DS Steiner of Marshallville.

Deaths of Charles Maine and family details in Sterling area

Funeral services for Charles R. Maine 75 are set for Thursday at 2 30 p m at Gillman Home. Maine died Monday after a heart attack at Wark worth Hospital. Born in Milton Township in 1877 he lived his life in the township. He served as first Wayng county director of relief for nine years and later as state deputy fire marshal before resigning for health. He was postmaster at Sterling nine years and ran a grocery and meat market there. He also owned the Chevrolet garage in Rit tsine service areas. Surviving: wife Lence a son Peter of Columbus a daughter Mrs Wanda Snyder of Wooster a sister Mrs Pearl Stern of Ritman a brother Delbert of Sterling. Grandchildren Verne Snyder and another, plus several nieces and nephews. Five brothers and six sisters preceded him in death. Rev S W Elliott to officiate.

Funeral services set for Joseph Woyat

Joseph Woyat aged 91 dies after a long life in Sterling with French origin. Funeral services are scheduled Thursday at 9 30 a m at St Ata Church Prod Farrel cemetery burial with his widow Mary and daughters Joyce and Mes fe remaining relatives including 25 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Surviving siblings reside in France and three children had died earlier.

Ev U B Church Ice Cream Social Ends Drive

Ev U B Church ladies held an ice cream social in the park Tuesday evening ending a membership drive and attendance contest. Seventy five attendees are noted with two teams The Hustlers and The Rustlers. The Rustlers captained by Robert Davis won over Hustlers led by Mrs Bernice Fry. Refreshments were provided by the latter.
