Local Little League Opens With High Scoring Games
Rittman Little League opened Sunday with the Ohio Boxboard-Management Club taking a 17 to 2 victory over Chamber of Commerce. Donny Glassner earned the win on the mound as John Kunkler collected two doubles and a single with two walks. Tuesday saw the Management Club beat Moose 10 to 3 as Kenny King and Billy Schaad starred on the mound. Bruce Leatherman and Eddie Weideman led the Lions with two triples apiece in a 20 to 11 win over Trodgan's Grocery, with Rohrer the winning pitcher.

Tragic Train Collision Involves 10YearOld Patricia Hoff
Patricia Ann Hoff ten, daughter of Mrs Faye Hoff of 25 S Second St, struck by an Erie Railroad train around 1 40 PM Thursday. She was taken to Wadsworth Hospital with facial lacerations and possible broken bones. The incident follows a 1953 fatal auto crash that killed her father Dwight Hoff, his wife, and siblings in Akron.

Train kills Baltimore woman at Rittman station
Mrs. Elsie Jordan 49 of Baltimore Md was killed instantly when struck by a train at the B and O station in Rittman Wednesday while waiting to board the 7 42 eastbound passenger train. Police say she hurried to reach the right side and did not see the westbound train. The dead woman had lived in Milton Township before moving to Baltimore 13 years ago and was a graduate of Sterling High School class of 1925 and Akron Actual business school. She is survived by her husband Alfred a B and O signal engineer two stepchildren a grandson and her parents two brothers and a sister. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home with burial in Mound Hill Cemetery. casket to remain closed.

Rittman Council rejects mosquito spraying for year
