Bible School Registers 274 Enrolled for Rittman Community

Rev. D. B. Davidson announces 274 attend the Rittman Community Bible School. The Daily Vacation Bible School runs two weeks at First Church of Christ with classes from Nursery to Teen-Agers. Nels Beery 56 died early Sunday of a heart attack at his home 17 Front St He was found in a chair watching television Born in Milton Township he lived mainly in the area with brief stays in Barberton and Akron A WWII Army veteran he worked as an auto salesman at Freeds agency prior to earlier employment He is survived by one sister and three brothers Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Gillman Funeral Home with burial in Rittman Cemetery

Little League Delayed One Week By Wet Grounds

The regular Little League schedule is postponed for one week due to moisture. Play will begin Monday if grounds are fit, officials stated this week.

Rittman hosts junior high banquet and semi formal dance

The sixth to eighth graders of Rittman prepare for a Friday night banquet and semi formal dance. Girls swap jeans for gowns while boys dress in Sunday attire. A Volunteer group of mothers will prepare a banquet and a live orchestra will play from 6 pm until midnight. The event crowns a king and queen and is sponsored by the Rittman Recreation Department.

Van Gilder resigns RHS post to teach near Cleveland

Jim Van Gilder, longtime Rittman High School teacher, resigns to take a teaching job at South Euclid and Lyndhurst high school near Cleveland. The board approved the resignation and in other actions awarded contracts for school additions, bus transportation, and new staffing including Mary Owen and Nancy Moore.

Crazy Bucks Auction Series Plans In Rittman

The Rittman Merchants announce the first Crazy Bucks auction for Saturday June 16, with auctions running weekly through August 18. Shoppers earn Crazy Bucks free with each dollar spent and can win a $1095 color television or its value in purchases. Cole Circus Comes to Creston in Lions Sponsorship

The Cole Circus performs in Creston in the park with both afternoon and evening shows on Monday June 11. Sponsored by the Creston Lions, the event draws attendees for family entertainment in a public park setting. Owen Korns was charged with assault and battery in Mayor John Baldwin's court, fined $50 plus costs with $30 suspended and placed on one year probation.
