Locals Beat G M B A Akron In One-Run Baseball Game

Locals won a Sunday game against the G M B A of Akron 10 to 9 in a close one. Highlights include Harpster and Steele with two base hits, multiple stolen bases by Kelch Sigler and others, and strong pitching by Owens and Brady. Attendance was 250 with notes on lineup changes and humorous remarks from the scorer and writer.

Lee Fritz narrowly escaped death at the Ohio Match plant when his head was caught between a gate and an elevator shield. A warning from the elevator operator allowed Fritz to free himself in time, though his face suffered deep cuts and torn gums. Lloyd Hummel Injured in Medina Bicycle Accident

Lloyd Hummel of this place was seriously injured when his bicycle was struck by an automobile in Medina Sunday. Reports say both legs and one arm were broken along with other injuries.

Patterson Commencement Updates and County Plans

Milton township Patterson commencement will be held at Rittman Monday evening June 22. Applicants must send name address and subject of production to E T Boone Stirling at once. County commencement will be held at Wooster Saturday June 27. This will be the last Patterson commencement under the old plan superseded by a new law.

Rittman Gas Rates Cut For One Year

President J G Newly announced in town that for one year the gas rate will be 27 4 percent cents with 2 4 cents off if paid by the 10th of the month following use The Medgar Gas & Fuel Co is expected to honor its agreement and begin laying mains on streets after a Friday start and Seville night readiness with substantial material on hand to bring gas to homes and businesses soon

Bauman Properties Sold at Assignee’s Sale

The Bauman area properties were sold at an assignee sale Saturday. Emil Bell bought the corner lot at Ohio avenue and State street for $1,616. Other Ohio avenue houses sold to S. A. Slemmons for $1,400 to $1,460. Vacant lots brought $90 to $170 and the homestead brought about $2,300.

What Is It P. R. Liechty Exhibited Friday

P. R. Liechty exhibited a 13 and 1/6 inch rule found while tearing down an old farm shop northwest of town. The single joint pocket rule resembles a foot-rule but is heavier and bound with brass. It is divided into 12 units, each into twelfths, bearing the words Pied Do Meter in English.
