Adobe Walls Battle Recalled On 1874 Frontier Day
A retrospective recounts the 1874 Adobe Walls fight on June 27 when a Comanche Kiowa Cheyenne and allied war party attacked a buffalo hunters camp along the Canadian River in present day Hutchinson County Texas. The defense by 28 men and one woman, including Billy Dixon Bat Masterson and others, repelled the assault with heavy gunfire and stubborn frontline courage.
