Rittman Class of 1975 Graduation Sets Record Crowd

Graduation exercises attracted over 1200 to the football stadium marking the largest turnout in school history. Dexter Woods became the fourth 4.0 graduate at Rittman High and first boy to achieve the honor. Other local graduates include Doris Nelson and Thomas Magier, with degrees from Colorado Mountain College, Bluffton College, and Malone College.

Lung function testing van to visit Rittman

The Stark-Wayne Lung Association will bring a pulmonary function testing van to Rittman Square on Monday June 9. Hours are 9 30 a m to 12 15 p m local time.

Hearing Set In Wooster On Thrill Seekers Liquor Permit

State Liquor Control Commission schedules public hearing in Wooster at the Wayne County Engineer Building on Vanover Street for June 11 at 10 30 a m to decide on granting a 3 2 beer liquor permit to the Thrill Seekers bar with dancing and live music for patrons over 18 in a location beside Main Street near the laundromat and fire station. Rittman groups oppose the license. three local churches and the ministerial association also oppose. No hard liquor planned.

Combined Ceremony Honors 124 Graduates at Rittman High

The Rittman High School commencement honored 124 graduates with prayers by Rev. Joseph Griffith and Father Joseph Buescher. Valedictorian Dexter Woods and Salutatorian Lucinda Imhoff led the ceremony as seniors with high GPA honors. Awards included Danforth leadership prizes to Carol Emch and James Hileman and P T O scholarships to Dexter Woods and Paul Freed.

Red Cross Breathmobile to Visit Rittman June 5

The Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit Rittman at the American Legion Hall from 12 noon to 6 pm on Thursday June 5 1975. The drive seeks 150 pints from Creston Doylestown Marshallville Sterling and Rittman donors aged 17 to 65 with consent forms from the school office. A 105 pound minimum weight is required and a jacket mixup from the March visit remains unresolved.

P.T.O. Scholarships Awarded to Dexter Woods and Paul Freed

The Rittman P T O Scholarship Committee named Dexter Woods and Paul Freed as 1975 recipients. Both plan college study with Freed aiming at medicine and Woods at law, each with solid academic records and active extracurriculars. The notices also list local community events including June activities and the Strawberry Festival on June 14 at Central Park Pavilion.

Rittman Prepares Bicentennial Pageant and Events

The largest choir ever assembled in Rittman will perform T Love America to mark Bicentennial observances. Mickey Shankland will direct the massed choir with participation invited from Milton Township churches and schools. Officials report plans include a major historical project and county joint Bicentennial programs coordinated by Wayne County committees.

Diploma Awarded Under Rittman Education Program

Marlene Gilkerson received her High School Equivalency Diploma under the board approved continuing education program. The initiative offers adults without a high school diploma a path to a certificate recognized by business, industry and civil service.
