Community greetings and family milestones fill this column. Catherine Imhoff earns Baldwin Wallace Dean's List honors for maintaining at least a 3.5 average. Births include twins for the Shooks and a son for the Van Gorders, with weights and dates noted. President Nixon commends Lind sey Williams column U S In Cambodia for Urgent Reasons and sends a letter to the Press expressing appreciation. The editorial page reprints the column after readers requested copies following the President's note.
Nancy Sandrock daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Sandrock has been accepted for the fall semester at Kent State Honors College. An ex exchange student to Brazil, she is expected home in July. She graduates Rittman High School in 1969 and was active in English III Scholarship team Future Nurses Pep Club FTA and several language clubs. She also participated in youth activities at Milton United Presbyterian Church.
Rittman pool passes are on sale for 15 dollars until June 5 at 4 30 p.m. Due to city error family passes also 15 dollars until June 5 at 30 p.m. Those who paid 20 dollars should apply for a 5 dollar refund by June 5.
Rittman High School will hold its 75th annual commencement Thursday at 8 p.m. in the high school gym. Guest speaker Tom Field, a well known newscaster, will discuss World Brotherhood. James W. Frye, president of the Board of Education, will present diplomas to 96 students and one honorary student.
David McComas son of Mr and Mrs Garland Mc Comas 20 Liberty travels ten weeks with Grace College choral group Winona Lake Indiana He is one of ten boys chosen to sing with the group performing concerts from the east to the west visiting First Brethren Churches They will appear in Rittman Sunday June 21 at The First Brethren Church He is a history major and will be a junior next fall at Grace College.
Mr and Mrs Philip Jaquet celebrate their silver wedding anniversary Sunday June 14 from 2 to 4 pm at Sterling United Methodist Church. They wed June 16 1945 in Newcomerstown with Rev Lorin Carmony. They have two daughters Nina and Karen. They request no gifts.
Mrs Emma Gasser 78 of Sterling RD died Sunday at Wooster Community Hospital where she had been a patient five days. Services Wednesday at 1 30 pm at Apostolic Christian Church burial in church cemetery Survivors include husband Ben three sons Glenn Joseph Kenneth four daughters three sisters thirty grandchildren and four great grandchildren Funeral arrangements by Gillman Funeral Home
The Columbia Gas Company and Ohio Fuel Gas announce a $310,000 program to boost Rittman gas supply. Ohio Fuel will spend $270,000 to lay a 10-inch pipeline from Sterling, doubling capacity, while Columbia Gas adds a $60,000 border station at DeCoursey and Sunset.
The Retail Merchants division of the Rittman Chamber of Commerce announces a free Counterfeit Money and Forgery Clinic with the Cleveland Secret Service on June 9 at the City Building. Two sessions at 10 am and 1 pm, attendance certified for business owners and staff.
Wald's Mens Wear opens its doors Thursday at 9 am at 17S Main Street. The business, purchased by Thomas H. Hughes, has roots tracing back to 1924 with founder Mr Wald moving locations over the decades. Hughes, a former Hawaii labor official, lives with his wife at 74 Adams Street.
