Wayne County Chapter American Red Cross confirms from the war department that Lt. Francis D Layton, son of Superintendent C M Layton of Wooster public schools and former Rittman high school teacher, is missing in action as of May 24. A letter dated May 26 appears dated Tuesday May 26 but was written May 23, the night before he departed on the mission from which he did not return.
