Mardi Gras Parade Draws Crowd for Children’s Event
Nearly 100 children entered the second annual Mardi Gras for children at the recreation center. A parade to the public square and back preceded judging and prize awards with many volunteers and local officials assisting. Winners were named in categories such as unusual costumes, funniest costumes, decorated bicycles and pets, wagon floats, and specific age group costumes.

Volunteers Sought for Polio Lift in Rittman

Union approves new contract at high school meeting
A majority of Local Union 150 members approved a new contract with the Ohio Boxboard Company during a Tuesday meeting at the high school auditorium. The joint statement was issued by union president Louitz and industrial relations director A. Boll.

City Council Debates Phone Service And Local Projects

Several children in Medina County were hospitalized with polio over the weekend. Forest Tucker nine Bernard Tucker four Ronald Holden three and James Emch seven Jack Dotterer five were admitted plus Floyd Fisher one. County health officials traced exposure to the Adams family in nearby Homerville and noted visits between families.

Rittman Homecoming Tickets Sold Despite Postponement
The Rittman Homecoming committee voted Tuesday night to postpone the 1959 celebration due to polio in the area. Prizes for the football game on Sept 19 remain funded with about $2,400 in expenses to be covered, and tickets will still be sold Friday night via a house to house canvass.
