The Class of 1925 reunion at Rittman High School gathered Tuesday evening in Rittman Central Park for a picnic dinner. Frank Schreiber Roma Lewes Frances Bender Edith Schorle and Mervin Breil Beck were named to the 1931 Arrangements Committee. I G Mason, former superintendent and now Ashland College professor, spoke to the group before the rest of the evening at the Kohlers home.
An Ohio State University census for 1929 30 shows 14495 students with farm homes as the largest single group surpassing others. 1706 listed farming as main occupation. merchants salesmen and executives also prominent among 125 occupations.
Joe Sherrick former Rittman barber purchased the Park Side miniature golf course from Charles Wald and A L L Bhert. Sherrick plans to take possession next Monday and may make improvements to keep the course a popular miniature golf destination in Rittman. Mr and Mrs W J Ritter returned from a cottage stay at Portage Lakes and a fishing trip in Canada.
About 164 Rittman boys of school age were treated to a free league baseball game in Cleveland on Wednesday. 27 car owners and the Cleveland Baseball Co provided transport and seating. Cleveland won 6 to 5 over Detroit.
Mr and Mrs John Isenberger and family relocate from Rittman after fifteen years in Ashland style. They will be missed in Rittman and seen as an asset to Kenmore. Isenberger is recovering from an accident and hopes to resume work soon with the Akron firm he formerly served.
The Pythian Sisters of Rittman held a Wednesday evening picnic at Rittman Central Park with 13 attendees. They planned a basket picnic to be held in Wooster next Tuesday inviting all members to join.
The will of William Beecher Lee late cashier of the Rittman Savings Bank was probated in Wayne County court at Wooster this morning. Most of the estate goes to his wife. Provision includes three scholarships: Seville Haigh Stool area and Carl ford Township students, Wadsworth High School district Medina County, and Rittman High School Milton Township Waytre County.
The Rittman Press corrects last week's issue misnaming N J Huff in a story about a trespassing charge. The headline should have read M J Ferguson, Salist, with the stated amount and details unchanged.
Miss Alma Ashbrook spent Sunday evening at the J J Kindig home in Medina. James Derhammer of Akron spent the weekend with his niece. Mrs Roy Forrer.
A frantic townwide search unfolded last Sunday for Ralph Hall who wandered from his Rich Parents home near the post office. The boy was found in the John Kunkler yard in North Matust playing with two new friends, ending a long, anxious search after a general alarm was sounded and townspeople joined in.
Camp Manatac in Akron reports a new high in enrollment with about 216 scouts and officers registered for the current week, following last week's Indian Week when 205 participated. The event featured tribal divisions and an elaborate campfire vigil with staged clashes between Indians and White Settlers led by local youths.
Four month old Donald Hughes suffered cuts to face and head when a hall window was shattered by a stray ball during a game near the Hughes home. The infant required four stitches for the injuries.
Sharon Center in Medina County Ohio hosts camp meetings starting July 26 and running through August 3 with night services. Evangelist workers Rev M S Gerow Rev Waleome and Rev Geo Bernard Bong lead the gatherings, praised for engaging preaching and community involvement.
The Milton Township Community parents sponsor a picnic on Wednesday August 6 at the Milton Township school grounds. Activities begin at 2 pm with a ball game and horseshoe matches followed by a community basket supper. A program in the ebook auditorium will feature local families and all residents with school ties invited. Committee in charge includes Mr and Mrs If Johnson, Mr and Mrs Geo McBride, and Mr and Mrs Asa Krabill.
Mrs Cecelia Zeigler entertained a large euchre group including Mr and Mrs Moline, Mr and Mrs Smith, Mr Herman Ridinger, Catharine Wilkerson, William Creston, Mr and Mrs Arthur Goffinet and families, Mrs Rae Yonker, and Mr and Mrs Chas Goffinet. High honors went to Mrs Ches Smith and Mr Arthur Goffinet. A luncheon hosted by Rev and Mrs Hendrickson followed. Rev J D Black of Wooster will preach August 3 and 10, Rev Robert Platter of Cincinnati August 17 and 24, all former Presbyterian preachers in the area.
Rittman hosts its annual community picnic on Saturday August 2 at Chippewa Lake Park with chartered buses from nearby towns. The program includes contests games and a ball game at 10 am with free dancing 3 to 9 pm and a full day of attractions for all ages.
The formal opening of the Rittman Cut Rate Confectionery at the Mainstand Chleary corner was held last weekend under owner M Fepstein. Purchased from Alpheus Goffinet, it replaces Goffinet's Cut Rate Store. The shop offers light lunches, hot and cold sandwiches, tobaccos, sundries, ice cream, a rear parlor, and a new radio receiving set for customers.
A grass fire in the Grand View Allotment on the west side of Rittman prompted a noon fire alarm last Friday. The local fire department arrived at 12 07 PM and soon had the blaze under control with no property damage reported.
