Macauley J. Gosney 50 of Durand Michigan will become Rittman city manager succeeding Willard Laughlin who resigns Sept 1 to join Iowa state government. Gosney previously led Durand and Scottsville Michigan public works, brings strong municipal administration background, and plans to move to Rittman Aug 15 with wife Virginia and two sons. Laughlin resigns after serving since 1955 and will oversee federal program coordination for Iowa under Governor Howard Hughes.

OK Ordinance For Annexation in Rittman
The City Council approved an annexation ordinance expanding the city north east and south of Rittman doubling its area. Opponents led by Joseph M. McElwee and Lillian Irish challenged the move after a petition origin from parents worried about students transferring to Medina County schools. Common Pleas Judge Adrian Miller ruled for the city with an appeal window of 20 days. the deadline passed last Thursday.

Calabria Fined For Tearing Down Traffic Sign
Dominic Calabria owner of Dom's Bar was found guilty in Wooster Municipal Court of tearing down a legal traffic sign. He received a $25 fine plus costs after an affidavit by Rittman Police Chief Merle Heffelman. The sign, at South Main and Sterling Road near Freed Ford Sales, had been placed to ease congestion with council permission.
