The Rittman Press plans a revised Milton Township directory this summer. The guide will include heads of families, spouses, all school aged children, addresses, places of employment, and local business info. A color cover and extensive local content remain, with solicitors visiting homes to collect data. Households will receive a free copy.

Pictured is the frame home completed by Mr and Mrs Frank Schreiber on No Third street in Rittman. The one floor layout includes living room dining room bedrooms and kitchen with built in storage. Rittman Realty to Sell Twenty Lots in East Town Section

Rittman Realty Co plans to offer 20 lots in a favored town section with four already sold. Frank Smith, secretary and treasurer, notes surveying and marking are complete and village acceptance is the remaining step. The parcel lies bounded by Clover Street, N Second Street, and N Fourth Street with sewer and water already in place and a 350 foot water main expansion sought. Recent home-building activity spurred this new development near the town center.

Prohibition Conference Planned in Wooster Church

A state prohibition conference will be held at the United Presbyterian church on North Bever Street Wooster Tuesday July 25 with sessions at 10 and 1 30 and 7 45. Noted speakers will address the meetings and live discussions will follow. Music features include a song by Second Baptist Church of Wooster. Rev E H Runyan of Urbana delivers the evening address. This is one of three state conferences this year all open to the public.

Services Held Thursday For Miss Phoebe Ouimet

Funeral services for Miss Phoebe Ouimet of Rittman were held Thursday morning at Dun Gannon with burial there. She died Tuesday at Mercy hospital Canton after eight weeks of illness. Surviving are her brother Reverend Charley Ouimet of Louisville Kentucky and sister Mrs Mary Hagen of Dun Gannon. Attending from Rittman were Rev Charles Farrell, Mrs Dan Brodbeck, Mrs Cecelia Zeixler, Mr and Mrs Ralph Kennedy and daughter Carol.

Eight Boxing Matches Set for Recreation Field Wednesday Card

Eight boxing bouts are scheduled at the recreation field on Wednesday night July 26 with two more expected. The program features fighters such as Kerr, Kerr Boyd Bodager, and Pat Ashbrook with Roy Kelly likely in an additional bout. Ring from Wadsworth American Legion will be in the center of the softball field with Tony Tuccinardi refereeing and two judges officiating after each bout. Roy Baker may judge. Rittman Parks Offer Ideal Picnic Reunion Spots

The Rittman park system hosts 41 reunion and group picnic days this summer with private picnics nightly. Central and Grandview parks attract families and bands provide Saturday concerts at Central park while various groups reserve dates from July 22 through September 4.

Kimsey Recovers After Emergency Operation at Wadsworth

L. L. Kimsey, who had an emergency operation two weeks ago, is recovering rapidly at Wadsworth hospital. He is expected to be brought home Friday or Saturday of this week.

Two cars collide on Route 3 near Wooster Saturday night

Wayne Junior Hunter of Creston Route 1 and Robert Moore of Rittman collide while northbound on Route 3 about nine miles north of Wooster at 10 p m Sunday. Hunters car slowed to turn left and Moore’s vehicle passing the front car caused the crash. Deputy James Shelley and Patrolmen Brandon and Hough investigated.

Wadsworth Archery Club Opens Range July 30

The Wadsworth Archery Club announces the range opening on Sunday July 30 on the centralized school grounds in Wadsworth. Matches start at 1 pm with novelty events after. The Midwest United States champion and runner-up in the men’s division are expected to attend. Helen Yoder, 125 Stevenson Court, is secretary for those wishing to shoot or join. Regular shooters include nine men and eight women. newcomers may try the sport during practice sessions.

Sterling Minors Ordered From County by Judge Saunder

Sterling minors tied to the torment of 60 year old Mr Hoover were ordered to leave the county by Judge A S Saunders. Bradley ordered to live with relatives in Steubenville and Sontag with relatives in Youngstown and not to return to Sterling for a year.

Orchard Day at Wooster Set for August 18

Ohio orchardists will meet at the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station in Wooster on Orchard Day Friday August 18. Purdue University Professor Burk, an Ohio-born horticulturalist, will be the out of state speaker. Morning tours will show orchard work with specialists on hand to explain experiments and a booth to discuss insect and disease problems. A special morning program will be provided for women after the program.

Rittman Students Win Honors At Ohio State

Rittman students at Ohio State University earned campus recognition as the year ended. Ray B. Rogers, a junior in journalism, joined Oot Sigma, Delta Chi, Kappa Tau Alpha, and made the winter honor roll of the arts college. Russell D. Snyder and Russell Welch, freshmen in engineering and mechanical engineering, were active in student groups including the men's glee club.

Rittman Labor Day Committee Maps Four Day Jamboree

The Rittman Labor Day celebration planning group met at City Hall to outline a four day program led by A J Tucalmantz with chairs appointed for sports, band, and fundraising. Activities center on Saturday through Monday with parades, contests, boxing, dancing, and open air services in Central Park plus a garden club tree planting and amateur contest.

Kayo Huff Fights Harold Strine In Wooster Main Bout

Kayo Kid Huff from Rittman heads a Wooster fairgrounds card Monday night facing Harold Strine of Ashland in a four round main bout. Huff weighs 194 pounds and trains at the recreation field. Ogunaban of Wooster meets Paul Ritter of Barberton at 136 pounds. A semi final and four preliminaries complete the program with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Huff has tickets available for spectators.

Rittman Legion Falls 8 to 5 at Akron

The Rittman American Legion lost 8 to 5 to National AC of Akron in Akron Sunday. Robert Schaad struck out 14 and walked three for Rittman while allowing 11 hits. Akron’s Rose pitched nine innings, and Francis hit a triple for the AC. Rittman led 3-0 in the first inning but Akron recovered, scoring three early runs and adding two more in the eighth. Rittman had no Turner at short and was hampered by that absence. The Legion next faces the Massillon Merchants on Saturday.

Rittman community fund trustees met Tuesday night at City Hall but could not transact business due to lack of quorum. The meeting was adjourned with no actions taken and no further dates announced.
