Betty Jane Finkle 15 niece of Mrs Harry Weiss died Saturday in Utica New York after meningitis followed a Cleveland July trip. She and two cousins left for a camp in New York where she fell ill and was brought to Utica for operation by a New York City specialist. Surviving are her parents Mr and Mrs Herman Finkle. Services were held Sunday in Cleveland at 3 o'clock.
Rev E S Handrickson of the Rittman Presbyterian church spoke at a Sterling Brothers meeting led by President Paul Johnson. The program featured vocal duets, a violin solo, and remarks on what a man must be in his community, followed by prayers and a social reception. Two new members, George Dallas and S Mantas, joined the Brotherhood.
Frances Jackson files for divorce in common pleas court from Adrian Jackson of Chattanooga alleging gross neglect and seeking custody of their child. Myrtle Jeffreys of Doylestown granted a divorce from Frank Jeffreys for gross neglect, alimony set at 15 dollars monthly. Melvin Steele released from county jail after serving time for driving while intoxicated following a traffic crash.
Stephen Schneider transfers 20 acres in Chippewa town to James Mc Sally. Durbin transfers 15 acres in Chippewa township to Rose Martinovich and others.
Doylestown Lions sponsor a lawn and card party at Mayor H B Ford’s home on August 8 to raise funds for helping visually impaired children whose families cannot buy glasses. Dr B E Neiswander chairs the fund project with assistors Dr H L Hardgrove and Whitehead. General chair EB Stepfield and Mrs Ford lead the event with Mrs F A Frase and many volunteers aiding.
The W. M. S. of the Brethren church plans an ice cream social near the square Saturday evening. Details are sparse due to text errors, but the event is a church social to raise funds or foster fellowship.
Row Ett W Nelewanger was rehired as pastor of the Brethren church Thursday evening. The quarterly business meeting selected officers and trustees for the coming year. Fred Blatter was elected trustee for a three year term, joining J A Blatter and Jee J Hilty. E F Griner is recording secretary and financial secretary Eula Blatter. Other officers include Dorneld Grant treasurer and Mrs Al W Hostettler as corresponding secretary. Financial committee members are Ronald Grant Bula Blatter Charles Baker and E F Griner. Music committee members are J W Kime E F Griner and Donald Grant. ushers Lloyd and Floyd Hoover with Floy Hoover and Bula Blatter as assistant ushers.
U S Marshal George Kennath announces John Wein has been appointed a United States marshal for the northern district of Ohio. The Cleveland federal building will serve as headquarters. His area will cover Wooster Akron Ashland and Canton as a field officer, reflecting prior success as deputy state fire marshal.
Rittman fans witnessed a donkey ball game at Rittman Athletic Field with Rittman and Doylestown Legions, a chaotic, entertaining affair where donkeys strutted and riders dodged. The result overshadowed by unpredictable plays, crowds laughed as Chick Phalute and others battled in a crowd-pleasing, unruly showcase. Hammer and Lucas, donkey owners, plan another game at Newcommerstown then travel through Ohio and Michigan. Barberton K of P's beat Cigars 3 to 0 as Cigars lost three regulars and committed five errors.
The class adoption will be held on July 26 at Rittman. The Wooster degree team will perform the work. Myron Travis and Jill Band will provide music for dancing.
Sterling Steiner and Marl Bach baseball met rivals the Rittman Kubs at Sterling High School diamond Sunday. The game ended after five innings due to rain with Sterling leading 4 to 0.
Mrs F N Dennis hosted the Missionary Society gathering Tuesday evening assisted by Mrs Roy Haley and Miss Jessie Kretzer. The program centered on Amaka a topic with talks by D K Gensemer and Haley, a duet by Anna Tenney and Nellie Farnwell, Betas Life topic led by Mrs Frank Leggett, and devotionals led by Mrs Carl Fetzer. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses.

Bob Winkler and Dur Wenger returned Sunday from a weeklong fishing trip to Hastings Ontario Canada. They traveled together and arrived safely after their excursion.
John Cordas won the g ham award at Werner Gash Market from last Saturday's regular weekly contests. Heary Long harvested 20 acres of wheat Tuesday and averaged 34 bushels per acre.
The case of D Holderbaum v J Novosat for trespass ended with a not guilty verdict. J Novosal and Holderbaum faced charges of willful destruction but were acquitted. Mayor imposed costs totaling 6.50 after a complaint by Arnold Hamar, with Guild pleading guilty to disturbing the place and fined 28.00 plus costs. A condition required Arnold Kontner to cover damages to a restaurant table.
The twelfth Orchard Day will be held at the Experiment Station orchards in Wooster Ohio on Friday August 17. Visitors will tour the grounds and watch demonstrations of work in progress, including fruit setting, pollination, and new varieties. Special tours for women visitors will cover flower gardens and home ornamentals after the noon program includes a short firegran and tours of orchards gardens and small fruit plantings.

The grand covering of the Farm Dairy Products company is scheduled to take place next Wednesday with the presentation of workers for cream and entertainment by Swiss bakers. The event, at Rivon, will be at 2 oclock in the afternoon. The sale is near Rittman on Route Novo, supported by farmers to provide an outlet for surplus milk. Change has been manufactured for several weeks.
Harrison and William H. Shackleford lead in a village attendance at the Gilken Military Training Camp near Hong. The event highlights four years of instruction, infantry drills, and camp activities with local youths and civic groups noting the outstanding candidates and awards.
Eugene yi Wh of Noytastown suffered an eye injury during a game when a ball struck him in the face at Valley Ridge. Taken to Barberton Hospital, doctors decided not to remove the eye after consultation. Tim is identified as the son of Mr. and Mrs. ACB HUESS.
