The Womens Missionary association and Otterbein Guild girls hosted nearly fifty Rittman ladies at Sterling A B church Tuesday evening. Mrs Stoolmiller opened with remarks and singing, followed by a program built on Music Smiles and Kind Deeds.
Sterling baseball team schedules a Sunday game against Orrville at Portage Park ball field. The probable Sterling lineup includes Adams, Reynolds, Hostetler or Johnson, Glessner, Schnaad, Maibach, Lamer, and Schaad with reserves Kjs Inger Knecht and telegraphed pursuit of Ted Norton of Rittman. Sterling has won five of seven games this season.
Mrs. Thom, member of the Ladies' Hospital Auxiliary of the F Wadsworth hospital, visited Devils Lake, Michigan with fellow board members. They stayed at the summer cottages of Dr and Mrs Bolich and Mr and Mrs William Wells and planned to return Friday evening.
Andy Chilko was arrested by Mills Sunday for attempting burglary and brought before Judge Saunders. Wooster Police activities were slow this week with only one other arrest for a traffic violation on Sunday.
Rough OCR shows seventeen Bos Scouts depart Rittman for Camp Manatoc Sunday afternoon. They plan to visit Warren and Cleveland Scout Camps, with meals en route, and activities labeled Gaypsy Week and Panther Weoh for the coming days.
Smithville Grange officers led a large audience in a candle lighting ceremony at Rittman Grange on Friday. The program featured vocal duets, recitations, a reading, and a talk, with refreshments served by the Rittman Grange committee. The event showcased Grange ideals and will be shared with other Wayne county Granges this summer.
T E Steiner was elected president of the Bauer Manufacturing Company board at the annual meeting held at the plant. He succeeds Don Foss, who served as president for two years. Officers named include Foss as vice president, Joo OF Welser as secretary and treasurer, and Louis Rhodss as assistant secretary. Board members for the coming year are Welser, Jacob Musser, and A Welser. J R Welmer was elected but declined the position. Welser was named to succeed John McGinnis as general manager. Steiner is known in Rittman for his active youth and local ties.
Nora Cainer Mrs Charles Parkin son Marguerite Denek and Margaret Brenneman plan a two week trip starting Saturday. They will visit Columbus New York City New England Quebec Montreal and Watkins Glen with Mrs Parkinson leading the tour party.
World Service Group held a picnic last Tuesday evening at the Willtam Brenneman home. The program featured devotionals and talks on missionary work.
Mrs Joseph Wald, who had been ill for months, underwent surgery at Wooster City Hospital this morning after visiting for an examination on Monday. Dr Stull decided a procedure was necessary, keeping her under observation.
Firemen’s Band of 26 players led by Homer Farrer impressed a Wednesday crowd in Rittman. The concert, offered gratis, drew a large audience and marked the first square performance by the group ahead of a planned 30 piece lineup next week.
Mra A J Grant hosted a Tuesday afternoon party for her sister Mary Korte of Smithville. Guests included Kathleen Williams Betty Price Pauline Twyla Shook Billy Newberry Leonard Blatter and Evelyn Owen. Games and contests were held and cream cake and sandwiches were served. Mary will spend a few weeks at the IO Grant home.
Esther Swartz, 44, daughter of Judge and Mrs HB Swartz, died Sunday after an operation in New York City. Born in Wooster, she attended Simmons College for post graduate work and did not graduate from Wooster College. Burial was in Granville on Tuesday after services at the family home.
On Tuesday evening July 21 at s o'clock there will be an officers meeting of the Death Fund association. Anyone wishing to join please be at this meeting. The next regular meeting will be August 11. The annual picnic will be August 12 at Chippewa Lake. All members are asked to go and bring a well filled basket. Reporter.
A correction notes the Sebastian Lutz family reunion will be held in the park on July 25, not the Wolf reunion as printed last week. The change confirms the date and location for attendees and corrects prior naming.
A rowdy 1927 ten man squad from Moumers mocks present teams and demands a game with the local high school. The lineup features Shorty McAnanen Tut Kunkler Harry Griner and others as they issue the challenge at the school grounds.
Mrs Carl Rizor will depart Monday on a special train to the Chicago Jubilee Pageant. She has been the WOBOA delegate to the last four jubilees in Columbus Toledo Atlantic City and now Chicago. Jubilees award the top points to a Victor with a trip and banquet this year won by Mrs Rizor.
Miss Bivelen Pferter, teacher of the Junior Sunday school, led the class on an outing Thursday. The group played baseball and games, read, and ate lunch under trees in the primary school yard, bringing a well filled basket.
Mrs Hi M Truax burned her foot badly Monday when a frying pan fell from the stove while she cooked the evening meal. Three weeks earlier the couple were on the front porch swing when it collapsed injuring the same foot and ankle. She now cannot walk on the foot.
Local volunteers push for a new swimming pool in Rittman centered at the park with cheap materials and donated labor. The plan seeks community donations and civic improvements, including shade trees and underground wiring, to enhance the village's appearance.
In a close game Hex Co defeated Rusinasamon 6 to 3 with late errors costing Rusinasamon as grounders and misplayed hits gave Hex Co the edge. West Va Wallops Salt Co 15 to 6 as Sparks and supporting batters power Salt Co comeback but late inning defense falters.

Names such as Jot Brown Maver Weldon Hardgrove Gilmo Ziegler Margaret Bren moman Graf Harter Scott Cantor Morricon and others appear in a circulating ticket. The notice requests votes for multiple municipal roles and outlines a slate of contenders.
The Rotary club meeting featured two tromboni salon by Robert Stadmiller and two vocal solos by Prof Rodda, with Willard Crites at the piano. Visitors included Rotarian Pfeiffer of Akron, Mr Rodda, Robert Stoolmiller and Robert Hickin. The president adjourned the session until next Thursday.
The wedding of Miss Bessie Baker to William Deana took place at the Smoyer home on North Avenue in a single ring ceremony. The bride wore a blue and white chiffon ensemble and was attended by Mrs Win Marble with attendants in brown. the groom is a chemist at Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Barberton and the couple plan to live in Doylestown.
Marjorie Williams, known plane freeracher from Rittman, departed last Thursday on a 6000 mile journey with destination California. She plans visits to relatives in Massachusetts, Vermont, and Canada with Mika Williams and her mother, Mrs. Margaret Williams. The trip will include Montana where they previously lived and Miss Williams’ students recall many recitals from four years in Rittman.
Fishermen report a fruitful trip at Rice Lake Ontario with the C F E Wilson party catching dozens of muskies including a 16 pounder and a 14 pounder. The group used casting to reel in multiple game fish as J L Fisher is expected home today. Lawrence of New Toronto faced a police charge but pled guilty.
