Pvt. Myron P. Marble of Kalamazoo Michigan formerly of Rittman is listed among initial Korean Campaign casualties. He served in Company C 71st Signal Service after training in Kentucky and had worked as a photographer on special assignments across the Orient.

Fannie Galehouse Dies At 71 In Rittman Or Cites Huntington Ties

Mrs. Fannie Galehouse aged 71 died suddenly at home 23 Salt St Tuesday evening after years of ill health. Widow of Jim Galehouse who died in 1943 she had lived in Rittman 13 years after moving from Huntington West Virginia. Survived by sister Mrs. Martha Thompson of Fort Gay West Virginia and several nieces and nephews including two nieces Mrs Joe Sparks and Mrs Taylor Wilson of Rittman. Funeral at Gillman Funeral Home 8:30 p m Thursday with Rev Carl Hanks. Body to Huntington Friday for service at Regan Funeral Home Saturday at 2 p m burial Ridge Lawn Cemetery Huntington.

City Recreation Program Offers Varied Summer Games

About 50 children joined the City Recreation Program run by James Van Gilder and Rev. L. L. Carpenter. Activities include weekly swimming, ping pong, and baseball with organized teams and a planned ping pong tournament. Girls meet for softball at the Main St School playground on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with chances for more youth to participate through the summer.

Start Fund Drive By Salvation Army in Rittman

The Salvation Army launches a local fund appeal on June 3 with Evelyn Shell abarger supervising the Rittman service unit. The drive focuses on Rittman and area residents offering unemployment relief medical and hospital care dental and visual aid food clothing and emergency help with regional aids like Booth Memorial Home and Fresh Air Camp. Auto Collision Injures Two in Orrville Area

Harold Stoller 17 of Orrville and Dale Trent of Rittman sustained injuries in a crash at the punty routes 47 and 371 intersection last Saturday. Stoller was admitted to Wadsworth Hospital for a leg cut and bruise. Trent had leg cuts and bruises treated at home. Mrs Trent suffered shock and bruises while traveling with her husband toward Marshallville.

Industry Plant to Open on Industrial Street in Rittman

Sinclair and Valentine Company of New York will build a printing inks plant on Industrial Street north of the Wade Kohre building in Rittman. Ralph H. Bazold is named District Manager and Cleveland Branch Manager. The plant will produce dry colors and base colors for branches, plus rotogravure inks, employing about 20 people. Local brokers note limited available sites hinder industrial growth and may attract more firms if suitable locations are found.

Police News: Smotherman and Smotherman Arrested for Auto Parts Theft

Carl Smotherman of Rittman was fined 19000 and costs, four months in the county jail with two months suspended, and one year probation after release for stealing auto parts. Engine Smotherman of Rittman received 10000 in fines and costs, one month in jail with two months suspended, and one year probation after release.
