Rittman Community Notes Invite Family Visits and Fireworks

The Hilsheimers welcomed Helen Deri and four granddaughters for a weekend visit and Tuesday brings sister number two with plans to California while her husband serves in Thailand. Fireworks at Industrial Street Park Wednesday night will be hosted by the Rittman Volunteer Fire Department with increased funding. Other items note Mrs Rose Jewell’s Virginia Beach trip, Denise Marie’s neonatal care updates, and weekend guests of Mr and Mrs Ray Staley and Bennie Staley family from Santa Monica to Orrville. Nora Crabtree underwent surgery in Steubenville and Jim Akin has returned from Spain now staying in Rittman for the summer. The VFW Ladies Auxiliary met June 27. picnic set for August 19 at Caskey Lake. next meeting July 25.

Residents with Wednesday trash pickup shift to Thursday

Residents scheduled for Wednesday refuse collection will have Thursday pickups due to the Independence Day holiday. The change affects all routes and crews operating on the usual collection day.

Regula Announces Federal Grants for District Programs

Congressman Ralph Regula announced two federal grants totaling $600,000 for the Sixteenth District. The funds from the Federal Law Enforcement Assistance Administration support planning and coordination in housing local government management equal opportunity environment planning administration and transportation. Planning work by the City of Canton is included and the money is to be used between now and May 31 1975 for the construction of two Juvenile facilities.

Rittman Friendly Town draft resident bond with youth ties

David Bowser stays ten days in Rittman with the Kellert family as part of Cleveland’s Friendly Town program. He praises the quiet town, cows, a fishing pond, and making new friends. Also covered are remarks by Regula on detention facility projects and a $106,000 HUD grant to Stark County planning.

Obituary and directory listing update from Wooster area

Al Falter 69 died after a month long illness at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital. Born July 25 1903 in Attica he lived in Copley and Akron before moving to Rittman. He worked as a truck driver for Borden Dairy and Atlas Freight Lines retiring in 1967. He is survived by wife Nell a son and daughter three siblings and three grandchildren. Funeral Mass Thursday at St Anne's Rittman with burial in Rittman Cemetery. Donations to Wayne Co Cancer Society. The Rittman Week committee discussed booth charges including $100 per front foot plus 10 percent of net profit for booths with displays and $200 per front foot for booths without a confession. Rate Expert To Study Ohio Edison Rate Increase Plan

Twenty eight cities and villages approved hiring a rate expert for a preliminary study of the proposed Ohio Edison rate hike discussed at Rittman City Hall. Ohio Edison filed PUCO applications seeking about 22 percent industrial and 28 percent non ordinance area increases, projected to raise annual revenue by 39.7 million dollars.
