Fatal Crossing Accident Claims Soldier Ralph Stackhouse
Soldier Ralph Stackhouse twenty died at Akron Peoples Hospital from injuries after a Ford car was struck by an Erie freight train at Dead Men’s crossing near Barberton. He drove his brother to work and was returning when the diesel locomotive hit the car end and dragged it roughly 100 feet. He had been in the Army two years on 30 day leave from Japan and was due to report July 20. His parents were away fishing in Ontario and returned to the bedside as he died. the body rests at Gillman Funeral Home.
