State health officials urge parents to vaccinate preschool children against diphtheria using toxin antitoxin therapy. Aimed at preventing deaths and lifelong disabilities, the campaign promotes immediate action through health commissioners or public wealth nurses and a July 18 conference in Rittman from 2 to 4 pm.

A severe wind storm near Sandusky ripped through Rittman causing extensive property damage estimated in the thousands. Trees were toppled in the park and along roads, buildings and a barn were destroyed or moved, with minor injuries reported and no deaths in the area.
Sunday schools from the Presbyterian and Brethren churches hosted an annual picnic at Chippewa Lake on Saturday despite an early downpour. About 200 attendees endured storms, flooded roads, and a toppled telephone pole, but all reached home safely with one minor vehicle dent reported.
Despite a Saturday night gate collapse that tore down poles and caused havoc in the district, the company supplied light and power as early as Sunday. The note on service emphasizes prompt restoration and utility delivery.

Miss Ruth Jacqueline Morris of Jacksonville wed Harry Martin Liechty son of P Wol Liechty in a June ceremony at noon. The bride wore white satin beaded with pearls and carried a bouquet of roses. maid of honor was Miss Elizabeth of Chicago and matron of honor Mrs Kathryn Lester. The couple left for a honeymoon to Niagara Falls and Canada and plan to settle in Jacksonville in the fall.
A. Snoddy of near Sterling is named Wayne County’s best farmer by Ohio Farmer writer Rummell. From 76 acres with 62 under cultivation and 19 Holsteins, Snoddy earned 3092 dollars labor income while supporting a family of seven. His system blends two year crop rotation, legumes, dairy products, and careful management with purebred livestock.
Workmen have begun grading and seeding around the new high school building. Four notable changes already appear as grading progresses. The Friday holiday affects mail service with the postoffice window opening briefly in the morning and the lobby remaining open all day. Mrs. F F Werner’s father dies in West Virginia after a period of ill health. funeral held earlier this week.
The Conny and EF memorial services were held Sunday afternoon with Reverend Dabler of the Disciple church presiding. The University of Michigan awarded Miss Bina M West of Port Durhen Mich an honorary Master of Sets degree as a tribute to her enterprise and wartime contributions. The Wolverines Times Herald notes her leadership aided women and children and cites praise from local readers for her vision.
On Monday this week Mr and Mrs SS Rizor became owners of the Thomas residence on Pirat street. Possession is immediate and the Thomas family will move to Cleveland this week.
The date for Congressman John McSweeney's wedding has been set. He and Mia Abbie Schaefer will wed at the home of Miss Schaefer's brother in Wynne for a Philadelphia suburb, with many friends showing interest in the upcoming event.
The Rittman board of education votes to issue fourteen bonds of 670 dollars each to cover a net indebtedness over 9000 dollars. Bonds bear 4.5 percent interest payable semi annually and mature from July 2 to August 1, 1931, with annual redemption. The move aims to attract homeowners, raise property valuation and secure funds for schools.
A telegram from Columbus dated June 30, 1924 names Rittman Savings Bank as a designated collecting agency and depository to gather funds for the relief and rehabilitation of Lorain, Sandusky and vicinity. Funds should be forwarded to D C Wills, Treasurer, Relief Committee, care Federal Reserve Bank, Cleveland. Vic Bonahey and F A Milla signed as governor and committee chair.
