Rittman Community Picnic committee met June 22 to decide the August 7 picnic will be at Summit Beach park. The cross section group includes American Legion Ohio Boxboard Ohio Salt Rittman Automobile Club Rittman Business Men's association Rittman Grange and Rittman Rotary club. Lack of park facilities for a crowd led to not using the theatre option.

Attorneys Weygandt and Ress filed a common pleas court petition asking Rittman village officials to direct construction of a right angle crossing at Hight Avenue where the Erie Railroad tracks would intersect the line, replacing the present angle. Residents oppose the project citing traffic and street improvements.

Altar Society Meeting at Goffinet Home
A very successful Altar Society meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Arthur Goffinet on Thursday June 24. The ladies quilted a quilt and prepared a top for another. A large picnic dinner followed in the yard under the trees. The secretary read last meeting’s report and it was decided to meet at Mrs. Charles Goffinet’s in four weeks. Following domestic troubles Louis Obodich of Salt street extension threatened to take his life. Monday morning he attempted death by own action but his wife cut him down, saving his life. A doctor was summoned and he is expected to be none the worse for the attempt in a few days.
