The Press reports a Monday night meeting in which Attorney McKisson and a tower company representative discussed soaring bills tied to new electric current. Attendees criticized meters and high rates, with promises of a future meeting and possible rate adjustments.
The Rittman K of P lodge hosted a county rally at the hall with Deputy Warren Hardgrove coordinating tours across the county to foster fellowship. Fifteen out of town members attended along with Pythian Sisters, an impromptu talks session, and an orchestra providing popular tunes followed by a lunch.
Miss Mary Graber of Sterling married Orlando C. Conrad of Canton at Rev. J. S. Gerig's residence near Sterling. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mia Danial Graber, is well known. After April first they will live on a farm south of Creston.
Rehearsals complete for the American Legion production Down in Dixie at Pastime Theatre with a local cast led by Jack Champion and Mrs. Jack Towys on. Scenes unfold across four acts from the Howard home in Kentucky spring to the October first scene. Cast includes Col John Howard Jack Champion Matthew Martin Ob Wenger Ike Conley and others. Special acts feature Celia Holm Beatrice Engstrom and Shook’s Orchestra with the Legion Quartette.
Alex B Pierce, 76, a former Rittman citizen and father of C A Pierce now of Akron, died at Akron home following a stroke. He was known in Rittman and Seville where he had lived. Survived by two sons, two daughters, and Arthur. funeral arrangements were being made at the time.
A Summit county minister preached on Young Women Her Faults and Ideals using 60 letters from young men. Forty men shared opinions and one definition described the modern girl as dances with Jack swims with Harry rides with Tom canoes with Bob dines with Jerry walks with Harold is proposed to by Bert and marries George.
Ohio State University Crop Talk urges farmers to cull seed corn by examining ears after drying. Pairs of advice emphasize selecting vigorous, well matured kernels with plump white germ, free of mold or disease, and discarding weak seeds to improve yields and corn quality. Public notice offers free Crop Talk for February with detailed pulling instructions.
Rittman and Milton Townships carry bonded indebtedness with totals for the Rittman clerks balance and general school funds. West Salem records show no bonded debt while several townships are debt free. A state inspector offered fund handling suggestions. Also a note acknowledges a $1000 accident claim settlement for Karl Long.
Andy Pancho through attorney G Engstrom files for divorce from Mary Quanehg alleging extreme cruelty. Mrs Dancho resided at 79 West 18th Street Bayonne New Jersey with Mr Dancho now living elsewhere. Early frosts and cold have worsened Ohio seed corn prospects versus 191% year with large imports from other states.
The rumor that Thelma Pierce recently married was investigated and found untrue. Her father, Mr. Pierce, informed the paper of the correction.
The Ideal hosted recent bowling games with teams competing for local standings. Players showcased solid spare conversion and strong strikes, highlighting a tight club season and upcoming matches.
Medina county stockholders of the Ohio Injector Co. voted to raise capital from 000 to 1 060 600 to finance new three story buildings at Wad and its equipment. A new plant at Kittman may be built and working capital increased. No new stock will be sold to outsiders. Pilot at Rittman postponed due to higher construction costs. Old board of directors re elected: F Jo Young Geisinger and others.
Saturday morning the Salisi fire department fought a fire at a residence west of the Oto Salt Co storage building. Firemen cleared smoke from the roof while water spread to a pond. Occupants moved furniture. repair needed due to water and cold. Cause likely faulty flue or overheated stove.
The funeral for Mrs Ira Boyer of Shiernburg was held Saturday at 1 00 pm from the home and 2 30 pm from the UDB church with Rev W N Barton officiating. Pallbearers included MPF t WH Gish Geo Moyer C BE Beyler Wm Koble Arthur Riley and J Smith. a guard of honor of two ladies accompanied the casket into the church. The church was filled with mourners as songs such as Home of the soul Beautiful city of gold and Beyond the river were sung by Spade and Misher along with Mesdames Engatrom and Holm. Flowers were abundant and interment followed at the Wadworth cemetery. The WEBA women conducted the rites. the deceased was a longtime member.
We extend heartfelt thanks to all who supported us after the death of our wife and mother. Gratitude to the Bible class, Dr Crege's class, church groups, relatives, those who sent flowers, the pastor, quartet, and others who offered comfort, songs, and transport assistance.
Property transfers show John A Bender selling to Gregg Rittman for 60 dollars and again to Niles Thittman for 100 dollars. M B Mills transfers to W R Shook in Rittman for 600 dollars.
