The Rittman Pleasant View Dairy and the Smith Dairy announce milk price cuts effective February 1. Guernsey milk drops from 20 to 19 cents per quart and standard milk from 19 to 18 cents.
The Rittman Legion posted an 41 15 victory over Akron Legion Post 272 on Friday night to extend an eight game winning streak. Wade Milford led scoring with five field goals and a foul shot while Ward and Ramster each finished with 14. Canton KC trailed 40 28 after three quarters before a late spurt.
Jack Williams announced the regular February meeting of the Rittman School Board will be next Wednesday night February 5 at 8 p m at the high school. The board will continue to meet on the first Wednesday of each month instead of the first Monday.
Rittman gears up for national Boy Scout Week beginning February 10 with a city wide fundraising push for all Scout activities. F O Kanehl is named chair in 1947 with Mrs Ralph Gwaltney as treasurer and a Drive Committee including Warren Bodager and several others. A public meeting is set for February 9 to explain Scouting needs and community role.
Mrs W W Bodager Mrs J H Fisher and Mrs Carl Adams attended an all day Red Cross workers meeting in Cleveland to plan the annual drive which will be conducted in March. The Rittman delegation represented Wayne County.
Adolf Rastorfer will sail Tuesday February 5 from New York City to London England and then fly to Berne Switzerland to visit his mother and sister unseen for 38 years. His mother is in her eighties. He came to the United States at age 21. His passport covers two months and an extension is possible.
A daughter named Mary Lou Hoover, nine pounds twelve ounces, to Mr and Mrs Lewis Hoover of S State Street, born Sunday January 26 at Wadsworth Hospital. A son named Glenn Watts, six pounds seven ounces, to Mr and Mrs Alpha Watts of 21 Salt Street, born Sunday at the Wadsworth with Marie Robertson. Additional birth noted for Mr. and Mrs. (name incomplete).
Election of 1947 officers for the Girl Scout Community Committee will be held Wednesday February 5 at 8 pm in the City Hall council room. Attending will be committee members troop chairmen and Girl Scout leaders. Plans for future camping trips and progress reports on Girl Scouting in Rittman will be presented.
Local bowling league seeks women to join as full time players or substitutes. Interested bowlers should contact Hazel Mc Connell by Monday February to register and participate.

Paul Emch proposes 50 houses on Bauman orchard site and adjacent lots to ease labor and material shortages with local builders mobilized and water lines promised. first homes due May 1, 50 total by year end.
Karl L Gillman and salesman William Bowers won top sales honors for 1946 of Sarge Milkers Heaters and Fencers in the Ohio branch of Babson Bros Co covering Ohio Indiana Michigan and Ontario. They learned of the award at the annual branch meeting last weekend at the Commodore Perry Hotel in Toledo. The Rittman agency also shifted the most units from other brands to Surge.
The Rittman Green Cross will convene at City Hall council rooms Monday at 7 30 p m acting chairman Tom Young presiding. Members will decide future activities and how last year’s funds were used.
