Jr O U A M plans a Saturday program at the Realty block hall with public attendance. Principal speakers Fred Mowery state vice councilor and Clara Bunton state organizer of the Daughters of America will speak. Committee plans additional entertainment beginning at 7 30 p m.
The Rittman High School student council plans for a biweekly newspaper without ads or outside help. Priced at three cents, four to six pages, first issue Friday February 7, with a name prize for readers. Staff includes Editor David Fredrick and multiple student editors, plus Miss Peggy Wanter as faculty sponsor.
The first baby born in Doylestown was a girl born to Mr and Mrs Joe Dujanvich on January 22 a cold night. Attending physician was Dr E Nies wander. Local merchants offer celebratory rewards including Stepfield Pharmacy Baby Toilet Kit Cleckner's Restaurant Free Meal Lepley's Service Station Sinclair gasoline Zody's Volunteer Grocery $2 packet Ruth's Beauty Shoppe shampoo and finger wave for the mother.
W R Shook fears the Alberta peach crop is ruined for next season after inspecting trees. Readings from Rittman Orchards show cold snaps last week with lows from minus 17 to minus 9, then warming to minus 0 and plus 17.

Columbus resident and pension department official suffered a fractured leg and scalp wounds in a Monday road crash on a hill near Peylestown. He drove a Chevrolet coupe into a Bechtel Inc truck from Orrville, then walked to a gas station and returned with gasoline as the other vehicle waited. The truck was parked on the roadside.
County Auditor Dan Yoder outlined Rittman’s tax division at the courthouse showing 158 mills overall with allocations for grandstand county schools township and village plus a large sum for poor relief. He noted adjustments were made to village funds and urged joint hearings with the board of education and council in the future. The 1936 allocations total 63 222.00 across funds including general contingencies safety service water maintenance bond retirement and special assessments.
Waterloo Wonders defeated Bud's Billiards 33 to 24 before a capacity crowd on Monday night. McMahon scored 20 points as Waterloo, chasing a strong class B scholastic reputation, used precise passing and aggressive defense to stay ahead, with Hessionence playing the full 40 minutes and Zivkovich adding the late point.

An executive committee met with Mrs J W Baldwin to finalize plans for a new Girl Scout troop. All girls aged 10 and older are invited to Legion rooms on Thursday February 6 to join. Miss Mary Ethel Cummings will serve as captain.
More than 80 former service members in Rittman and Milton townships are set to receive adjusted service certificates or baby bonds, with payments ranging from under 100 dollars to about 1 600. About 3 500 dollars in total may circulate locally by mid June as recipients cash or spend the sums after prior delays.

Caretaker B. R Lance reports two Central Park monkeys have moved into a wall sheltered winter coop. Since November the pair roam the warm enclosure, eating corn wheat lettuce and cabbage, marking their fifth winter in the shelter.
Ben M Mellvaine, chief deputy to Wayne County Treasurer Carrie Franks, announced his bid for the treasurer's office in the Democratic primary next May. A native of Canaan township, he has two terms in the current office and earlier worked as a bookkeeper for Buckeye Aluminum Co. He is a Wayne County resident and property owner in Wongter for about 16 years.
Rev H Stout urged Rotary club members and Rittman grange guests that producers and consumer cooperatives offer solutions to national troubles. He argued rural capital drained to cities, criticized tariffs, lauded the Wooster egg auction as a coop model, and urged organizing a national program. Carmichael is critically ill at Woodman sanitarium. his father Richard Carmichael travels west to be with him.
About 16 Milton Presbyterian church members and Sunday School officers attend the mid winter training school of the Federated church of Barbert on Thursday and Friday. The Rev EB Hendrickson taught the course Guidance and Christian Home Building at Calvary Presbyterian in Cleveland and leads the same course at the Akron district sessions.
The council met January 21 in regular session to push a WPA water works project on Smith Hill. Paul Cline was named resident inspector. The American Legion urged a flashing caution light at the square monument, referred to safety measures statewide. Officials received PWA notices confirming docket 7163 and Doylestown amendment release.
Fintvet Harrison, editor of The Willman, announces his Democratic bid for Wayne county representative in the state legislature. He fills the seat left by D W Gairhouee, with a background in journalism, college and newspaper work, and experience in relief work during the CWA era.
Raymond Morgan, a longtime Orrville attorney and Democratic leader, seeks the prosecutor's job in eastern Wayne County. The 20 year old lawyer, with an LL B from Ohio State, is described as soft spoken and meticulous with strong community ties, married with one daughter, and serving as president of the county Young Men's Democratic club.
Sam Facovitz and J. B. Gish along with their wives came back from St Petersburg Florida last Saturday. After two weeks in warm southern sun they faced cold rides over mountain roads to reach Rittman via Cincinnati and had to add layers of clothing.
