Ex servicemen at Howard A Blair Post 423 rally for immediate full cash value payment of adjusted service certificates. Ohio leads in urging settlement as the national committee weighs action this week. An upcoming meeting invites all ex service men to participate and join the legion.

Four Runaway Boys Found by Marshal in Ohio

Four Cleveland youths failed to appear at school and traveled south to Rittman. Marshal Mills located them on East Ohio Avenue Thursday January 15 and alerted Cleveland police. Parents retrieved the boys Saturday and returned them home. Names include Matthew Penek 14, Regig Holland 15, Myron Kulguski 14, and Martin Cowards 14.

Jackson Man Buys Farm Near Rittman

Jackson businessman I. Y. Lawton purchases a 130 acre Medina county farm between Rittman and Wadsworth and will take possession in early spring.

Wadsworth Man Injured After Willys Six Rolled Thrice

A. J. Jankowski, of Wadsworth, reported his new Steiner and Rohrér Willys Six rolled over three times after a January 13 skid while driving at under 100 miles per hour. He escaped unharmed. The car had just been purchased on January 16.

Hardware Stores Looted By Robbers

Rittman Hardware and Branigan Hardware were broken into early Tuesday morning. Robbers stole knives and ammunition from Rittman Hardware and three firearms from Branigan Hardware, gaining entry by prying the front doors. police pursue clues with no arrests yet.

Gilbert Becomes New Scoutmaster

F E Gilbert former assistant scoutmaster of Troop 405 was appointed scoutmaster of the Rittman boy scouts by the troop committee last week. His advancement to this position follows his excellent service as assistant scoutmaster and his strong interest in the movement. The troop has improved under his leadership and Gilbert has devoted much time to its interests. The former scoutmaster H S Squibbs is credited for his work. The troop, existing longer than any previous organization of the same kind in Rittman, owes much to its leaders. At a recent meeting the troop expressed appreciation for Squibbs. The last meeting saw discussion of good turns and projects by present scouts including three Scousers F E Gilbert B D Miller and E S Hendrickson, with a resolution to increase community service hours for each scout. The next local court of honor will be held at the American Legion rooms on February _. Senior court of honor will meet late this month at Akron.

Well Known Dentist Speaks to Summit County Society

Dr C C Gregg of Rittman led Akron area Dentists at a Saturday Summit County Dental Society meeting. Principal speaker was Dr Winters of St Louis, renowned oral surgeon and author, who lectured on tooth extraction.

England Plumbing Moves to New Rittman Location

The England Plumbing and Heating company relocates from Realty block to South Main Street in Rittman. Work began this week and the new showroom on the first floor will display plumbing fixtures while tin shop occupies the second floor, with plans to open by February 1 to serve expanding business.

Annual Auto Club Meeting Set For Jan Twenty Seventh

The Rittman Automobiles Club will hold its annual meeting and banquet at the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday evening at 6 30. A 50 cent charge helps cover banquet expenses. Members are urged to attend and vote for directors for the coming year, showing support for the club's service to the community and motorists.

Auxiliary Bridge and Euchre Party Winners Named

The Auxiliary to the American Legion held a bridge and euchre party on Wednesday evening. Prizes were awarded to Mrs Lucille Parkingon for bridge and Mr Rader for the gentlemen’s bridge prize. Mrs Howard Breece won the ladies euchre prize. Several Wadsworth and out-of-town ladies attended and a light luncheon was served.

At the last regular meeting on January 15 deputy sister Buxton of Akron installed the lodge officers for the coming term Past Councilor plans were presented to Sisters Esther Hiren and Della Campbell. The Clothing Exchange in the Carmichael building, two months old, reports strong sales for a good cause and has supplied many in need. The supply of children's apparel, especially dresses, is nearly depleted and supporters are asked to bring garments to the exchange for donation.

Firemen Rescue Car From Flames At West Osceola

The local fire department responded to a Thursday morning alarm at 7:20 to the Fred Ruffner home on West Osceola. Flames engulfed an automobile in the garage as Ruffner, a driller for the Ohio Salt company, prepared to depart. Firefighters arrived promptly and stopped the blaze before extensive damage occurred.

W. W. Garver Dies From Heart Attack

W W Garver 77 of West Salem former Wayne county sheriff died at 8 30 Sunday night at his home after a heart attack. He served as sheriff 1895 96 97 and 1908 and was postmaster of West Salem. Survived by nine children and many grandchildren. funeral Wednesday at 2 30 pm from his home with burial in Fair Haven cemetery.

According to a report by W A Garver treasurer of the Christmas Seal committee for northern Wayne county the total receipts for this district reached 617.06 up from 600.87 the prior year and higher than 1928 1927 and 1926 figures. Receipts by locality include Rittman 332.05 Creston 116.81 Doylestown incomplete 30 Sterling 22.68 Burbank 70 West Salem 7.03 Milton township rural schools 10 Chippewa township 28. The congress total has not been added and the Doylestown report is incomplete.

Farmers Visit Rotarians In Meeting Themed Farmers Week
