Firemen Battle Closet Fire at Rittman Depot Area
Rittman fire department was summoned Wednesday morning to fight flames in a bedroom closet of Joseph Wald near the mill depot. Alarm rang at 10 16 with firefighters working until about 11. Chemicals failed to stop the blaze, followed by a water hose. Heavy smoke hampered efforts, crews used flashlights and fresh air from windows. Believed started by Mr Ward’s young son playing with matches in the closet.
