Morton Salt Belts New Rittman Field in Hydrofracting Venture
Salt field southwest of Rittman enters production via hydrofracting to tap a 57 foot thick vein. Howard Young says the new source will supply high grade chemical salt for many years as three wells, over 1 000 feet apart, draw brine, evaporate and package salt for industry agriculture and home use. Morton Salt Company, Halliburton of Wooster, and local Wadsworth origin tie the project to the region’s long running salt industry.
