Boxboard Co opened 10s club rooms to its employees and their families for an evening social. Brown's orchestra from Akron provided music. About BO coupler participated. The event featured tales and popular rooms for social affairs during the season.
In a home game at the local gym, Rittman High School Red and White defeated Doylestown High 29 to 16. Charles Hugh McElwee two year old son of Mr and Mrs Joseph McElwee died Monday from pneumonia, funeral held Wednesday at St Ann Church with Father Charles Culmet officiating. Burial followed at the Catholic Cemetery south of Sterling. He had been ill with flu which led to pneumonia. his sister Kathleen, seven, is very ill with the same disease.
The Rittman Community Basketball League featured United Cigars defeating Boxboard 26 to 20 in the opener while Snyder Drugs overwhelmed Firemen 44 to 16. Paul Hertzler led Boxboard with eight points, and Griner topped Snyder Drugs with 20 as Baker added 10.

Ned Gilbert turned ten last Monday and celebrated by inviting 12 friends to a party. Mrs. Karl Kohler organized games and lunch. A birthday cake with candles formed the centerpiece of the refreshments, and Ned received gifts and well wishes from his guests.
Roy Love recently returned from missionary work in Africa and plans to join his family in Denver. Mrs. Love had been a visitor in Rittman last summer, and Mr. Love remained overnight at the Garver residence hosted by Supt. and Mrs. V. A. Garver.
Mrs C B Wilson wife of the realtor received word last week of her father’s death in Oklahoma. The body was shipped to Atisa for interment. Mr Wilson left for Kentucky shortly after the funeral and returned home Sunday.
Creston residents are shocked as Paul Fetzer, 35, dies by self-inflicted gunshot at his Creston home. Despite long illness and nervous breakdown, he left early, was found in the barn loft by his brother. Survived by wife, four children, three sisters, and brother Carl. funeral plans set at Murray Funeral Parlors with burial in Canaan Cemetery.
