Council Sets Up Estimated Appropriations for City Finance
The council met at City Hall on Monday night with Mayor Baker presiding. Committees were chosen and salaries set including mayor, treasurer, clerk and solicitor. General fund totals include 203 dollars for the council, 3242 for the mayor, 650 for the treasurer, 450 for the clerk, 225 for the treasurer, 30 for the solicitor and 356 for legal advertising. Rietman board of education held a meeting at the high school Monday night and re elected Schwartz as president. Shook was chosen vice president and Melvin Ritter rehired as clerk for one year. Building grounds and committees were named and an auditorium addition was proposed with an estimated cost of 1,000 dollars in the 1939 budget. The board approved the 1939 general and bond retirement funds and discussed band uniforms and minor repairs.
