Legion banquet notes Ohio budget and Boys State cut
R. B. Gardner state commander outlined the American Legion today at the tenth annual past commanders banquet held at Creston Moose Hall. He announced a 1940 Ohio budget of 95 000 dollars with 53 000 for fundamental work 23 000 for publications and funds for Boys State. Gardner urged support for the Dies committee and universal service during wartime and urged neutrality while investigating American qualities of lawmakers. He said Boys State will be reduced to 700 this year due to staffing limits. The event drew many Wayne county Legion members and dignitaries with remarks by H Milton Elliot and Allen Tromp and a guest invocation and benediction.

Funeral rites held for Clifton Beriphot Easton man
Funeral services for Clifton Thomas Beriphot 34 of Easton were conducted today at 2 p.m. at Union Church Easton with Rev Bartz horn officiating. Burial followed at Bellecenter. Coroner ASH reports Beriphot died Sunday night from a gunshot wound after a self inflicted device discharged the shotgun into his head. Relatives say he had been in poor health and worried about his condition for some time. He is survived by his brother Boyd Beriphot and sister Mrs Amba Storms of Woodbury N J.
