Point Way To Rittman Signage Draws Travelers

The Rittman Chamber of Commerce installed eight by sixteen foot black yellow and white signs to guide motorists. Three signs were made by Mr and Mrs Charles Ankeney of Oberlin and placed on Routes 4 and 5. The old sign at Routes 94 and 5 was replaced. The slogan Security Friendliness Opportunity won a recent chamber contest with author Mrs Sarah Dalbey.

Ohio counties pledge 40000 for CROP drive 1952

CROP gifts up fifty Ohio counties have contributed 40000 of farm products for the Christian Rural Overseas Program announced from Columbus headquarters. Ohio will be organized into 19 districts of three or four counties each for a 1952 campaign to obtain wheat soybeans milk corn and wool. Fleeces have been donated by wool growers in Ohio and two neighboring states per Paul Getz Columbus executive secretary of the Ohio Wool Growers association.

Paper Pickup Day in Rittman Sparks City Drive

Rittman will hold a Saturday paper pickup day to clear holiday paper buildup. The Waste Paper Plant will dispatch a truck citywide, asking residents to place papers on the porch or curb for collection. Fire Chief Everett Winkler warns that large quantities pose a fire hazard.

Housewives Help In Meat Price Laws

Complaints say butchers fail to post selling prices or grade marks on meat trays in the Cleveland OPS office report. Ralph M. Feldenthaler notes this violates federal price relations and urges housewives to report violations to the Cleveland district OPS at 1101 Huclid Ave. A short staff limits inspector visits in the district. Some butchers evade hamburger ceilings by mislabeling lean versus regular grades, selling at 81 cents a pound instead of 68 cents with higher fat content.

Everhard, Former Salt Co. President, Dies In Wadsworth

William H. Everhard 75 former president of The Rio Salt Co. died at his home 302 Woodland Ave. Wadsworth after declining health since 1948. Funeral 2:00 p.m. at Hilliard Funeral home with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. He led Ohio Salt Co. from 1932 to 1948 and served on multiple boards. Survived by son William Jr. and daughter Edith Eismann, plus two granddaughters.

Gethsemane painting dedication at Swartz Jewelry

Penny Post Cards Rise to Two Cents Under Inflation

The 1951 postal pricing hike raises first class and picture post cards from one cent to two for mailing. Special delivery fees increase to 20 to 60 cents by weight. Fourth class rates and handling charges rise to 35, 45, and 60 cents respectively. Minor increases affect registration and insurance.

Services Sunday for Pfc. Albert Marty

Funeral services will be held Sunday at West Union Lutheran church Sardis for Pfc. Albert Marty 20 former area resident killed in Korea July 16 1950. He was the son of Mrs Stella Marty and cousin of Lawrence Bob and Carl Marty of Rittman. The family moved to Sardis from Sterling R D 15 years ago. Marty served with the 24th Division under General Dean who later was listed as a prisoner of war.

Welch and Robinson Apply for Marriage License

James Kenneth Welch 19 of Doylestown and Janice Faye Robinson 18 of Wadsworth applied for marriage licenses last week. Welch listed as U. S. Navy. Robinson was a student.
