The Rittman high school basketball team defeated Doylestown 25 to 22 on the local floor last Saturday. Glenn McConnell led Rittman with 11 points while Walt Berger scored 8 for Doylestown including 6 in the final five minutes.
The Indians host the Sterling Eagles this Friday in a local basketball clash. The game highlights a scheduled meeting on the home court with both teams aiming for a win.
Rittman led 10-7 after the first quarter and 22-15 after three as McConnell and Weckesser sparked scoring for the Indians. Doylestown, paced by Berger and Flynn, kept within reach and final tally showed Rittman winning 25-22 with strong foul shooting and late defense. Reserves edged Doylestown reserves 16-13.
Mrs Mable Yochheim is spending the holidays in Woostern with relatives. Neal Bellomy was called last Wednesday to Fort Gay West Virginia to be at the bedside of his mother Mrs Wesley Belligae who passed away Saturday. Burial was in a cemetery near their home Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Bellamy had many friends in Rittman.

Sunday at United Brethren Church features Sunday School at 9:30 led by Paul John son and Evelyn Harter Smith, morning worship at 10:30 with the sermon God Answers Our Excuses from Exodus 3 4, and evening gospel service at 7:30. Installation of Sunday School officers, a 6:30 program, and three Christian Endeavor groups planned. New year prayer meeting set for Wednesday Jan 2 at 7:30. Plan to start the year with worship on Sunday Jan 6 1946. We uphold the Book Blood and the Blessed Hope.
Daughters of America met at the home of Mrs. Austin Gift for a Christmas party with 27 members present. In Emma Smith's absence the group sang carols and listened to a recording of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol featuring Ronald Colman as Scrooge. Santa Claus attended and helped with an exchange, with refreshments served aided by Mrs. Pearl Secrest, Mrs. Ben Gordon, and Mrs. Violet Vignovich.
Ten members and two guests attended the Mothers Club meeting at Mrs Edward Lake mire home. Fredrick Willems aged eight recited The Night Before Christmas and sang White Christmas on request. Mrs Dorothy Kohler read a Christmas story. Refreshments followed gift exchange. Next gathering planned at Mrs Mary De Vore’s home with Mrs Kohler assisting.
Merle C. Heffelman seeks an annulment from Martha J. Heffelman of Marshallville with a Common Pleas hearing scheduled Friday in Wooster. Pfc Glenn R Nolt, Marshallville, after 34 months in the Army and two years overseas, reenlisted and will receive a 90 day furlough and a $100 bonus.
