1938 Chevrolet Coupes Collision on Main Street Crossing
Joe Smith of Wadsworth Rd. drove a 1938 Chevrolet coupe that stalled on the S Main Street Erie railroad crossing Tuesday at 6 p.m. A westbound freight struck the car with its engine running backward, causing severe front end damage. Smith was uninjured as the vehicle was shoved off the tracks toward the Hershey and Rohrer elevator.

Veterans Return Home From Sit-Down Leave For 27 Days
Howard E Warrick of Rittman among 133 Akron area veterans back in the Nik Prentovich SSM 3 c left Monday night for New London Conn after a 27 day home leave. Howard Dickerson elder son of Mr and Mrs H B Dickerson Sterling Ave arrived home Saturday for a 30 day furlough from Camp Custer Mich. He will report back to Percy Jones Hospital near Battle Creek. This is his first time home in 38 months. He served two years in the South Pacific. Several times he was in the same area as his younger brother Paul but they never met.
