J A Liechty reported strong year results including 1400 cheese wheels produced 1300 in building repairs and 2500 debt payoff with assets at 99408 64. About 125 stockholders attended and a 6 percent dividend was declared.

A large capacity crowd attended the free community Christmas concert by the Rittman High School band under director Fred Ebbs in the high school auditorium Tuesday night. Rites Held For Chas W Shaffer Village Clerk
Funeral services for Charles W. Shaffer 44 village clerk and longtime resident of Doylestown were held Saturday afternoon at Frase funeral home with Rev Floyd Withdrow of Barberton officiating. Burial was in Chestnut Grove cemetery. Shaffer died after his car was struck by an eastbound freight train at a crossing. He was a veteran, former postmaster, and active in local civic groups. Surviving are his widow Ruth, three sons Richard 17 Lowell 15 William 12, his mother Anna Shaffer, two brothers Irvin and Arthur, and two sisters Clara Scanion and Emma Myers.

Rittman Industries Plans Double Holiday Shutdown
Rittman Industries and its three major plants will wind down production Friday or Saturday night for a double holiday. The Ohio Boxboard Co and Ohio Balt Co Noon will close Sunday through Monday and restart Tuesday. Rittman Industries ends 1939 production with the Friday shift and will take inventory through New Year’s week, resuming January 2.

Presbyterian Choir Presents Immanuel Cantata at Milton
The Milton Presbyterian Church choir of 22 voices directed by Mrs. Ernest Harrison with Mrs. A. L. Ebert at organ and Mrs. A. J. Tuccinardi at piano offered a candle light Sunday presentation of the cantata Immanuel by Adam Geibel. Frederick Ebbs assisted directing as the congregation joined in a carol after the organ prelude. The program featured vocal solos, a duet, a trio, a men’s chorus, and organ piano preludes, ending with Peace on Earth while the church was filled for the service.
