Two Rittman youths on parole from Lancaster state school were returned to the institution after one confessed to breaking into a home near Rittman and stealing eggs. Marshall Mills of Rittman arrested him, and a parole officer from Lancaster retrieved the lad.
The American Legion defeated West Salem 36 to 13 in their opener led by Gene with 11 points. Read was West Salem’s top scorer with 6 points as Creston and Rittman rivalry looms for the next game at Howe. Gerald Mong, former Wittenberg star, is noted in action ahead of the matchup.
The Rittman Auto Club prepares the third annual Christmas tree display on the Square with committees set and a weather permitting program. Mr Zimmerman donated the tree on Portage Road and an electric display is arranged. The tree will be lit each evening from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day as the club works to spread Christmas cheer.
Irene Bordoni returns to the Ohio Theatre Cleveland for a one week stand starting Monday December 22 in Little Miss Bluebeard. The French American comedienne will sing four numbers including So This is Love and La Violetera with a cast led by Arthur Hargerson Eric Blore Gordon Ash and others. Irving Gannon will spend the holidays with his parents after returning from Boston where he studies at MIT.
The Wadsworth Federation of Women's Clubs adopts a resolution urging conservation of Christmas greens. It calls for using artificial or nursery-grown plants to spare spruce trees laurels and holly from wholesale destruction and notes the lack of a national conservation movement. Committee members include Mrs M C C Avery Mrs Lewis Calne and Mrs E K Barnes.
Naturalization officer Christian of Pittsburg visited Wooster on Monday and granted eight people the right of citizenship. Applicants were examined and, after meeting standards, taken to the courtroom for ceremony with Judge Starn. Frank Campagne from Rittman, native of Italy, Joseph Landry of Rittman, native of Switzerland, and King DeFos, native of Canada, received full citizenship.
Wednesday evening many friends gathered to celebrate the completion of the new home in Scineburg. Guests enjoyed conversations and a lunch as they wished the young couple many years of happiness and prosperity in their new residence.
Wttman businessmen deviated from standard stagging inviting their wives as guests at the monthly meeting and banquet at the Evergreen Turadaya.
