Councilmen Split Over Anti Noise Ordinance Debate

In Rittman the Village Council split on the first reading of a proposed anti noise ordinance intended to consolidate existing rules and curb street and yard noise. The measure, drafted by the village solicitor after study of other towns, would ban horns and loud equipment, with 14 sections covering streets, schools, construction, and advertising sound devices.

Miss John Winkler recovers after hand surgery at Wooster Hospital due to infection and hopes to be home for Christmas. Arthur Goffiner remains at Wadsworth Hospital with a hand injury three weeks old and aims to be home for the holidays. Hiram Boyd Dickerson, moved Dec 3 from Norwalk Memorial to Wadsworth, is recovering and hopes to return home for Christmas per his daughter Mrs. Robert Wright.

Services Held for Mrs McConnell Former Resident

Funeral services for Leona McConnell 40 wife of Dave McConnell were held Monday at St. Ann's Catholic Church. She died Thursday evening after a six month illness. Born in Wadsworth she lived in Milton Township and Shreve before moving to New London. Survived by husband five daughters and five sons plus parents in Wadsworth and siblings. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery Wadsworth.

Kiddies Christmas Party in Rittman at Fire Station

The second annual Santa visit for Rittman children through sixth grade runs 6:80 to 7:00 PM Saturday at the fire station. Santa will meet kids and hand out gift boxes as Christmas music plays from 6:15 to 7:30. TLR McLean leads the music with Robert Chenal as a vocal soloist and Miss Virginnis Wenger on accompaniment. Community groups fund the event through the Rittman Advisory Council with support from the Chamber of Commerce and local clubs.

Mobile X Ray Unit To Visit Wayne County Schools

The Wayne County Health Department announces a mobile X ray unit will be at the high school Wednesday December 15 from 2 to 4 20 PM. Students in the junior high and high school are urged to take advantage of the service and residents wishing X rays may be accepted.

Prince of Peace Winners Enter District Contest

Miss Virginia Wenger of Wayne County entered the district Prince of Peace contest held at five churches on Sunday evening December 5. Alternate Miss Nancy Schorle, daughter of Mr and Mrs Howard Scharie, and another contestant Miss Weenper, sponsored by Milton Presbyterian Church, offered a declamation “Surmount Our Everest.” Miss Wenger received a silver Prince of Peace Key after winning a local preliminary.

Rittman Council Hears Parking Changes and Budgets

The Rittman village council met to discuss parking regulations on Main and Salt Streets with a decision to restore two hour limits on portions of Salt Street. Citizens raised concerns about two hour parking affecting salon customers and the need for better facilities. the council deferred action on private parking changes. The meeting also covered a November fire report, mutual aid plans with nearby departments, proposed ordinances for plats and subdivisions, and a public hearing set for January 3 on the regulations. A Walnut Street water issue and street repairs were debated, with a special meeting scheduled for December 21 and mayoral financials noted.
