Three Kent State University girls complain Santa did not bring suitable male companions last year. They request a representative of the male sex, a lady shaver, fur tests some, diamond earrings, a pink dismobile, and other items, promising coffee and donuts for Santa and reindeer.

Wadsworth Industrialist Ervin A Young Dies at 72

Ervin A Young 72 of Wadsworth died December 2 after a lingering illness in Wadsworth Hospital. He served 45 years with The Ohio Injector Company, retiring in 1955 as vice president. A Grace Lutheran Church leader, Red Cross director, and early head of several local and regional groups, he left a wife Bertha, three children and seven grandchildren. Services were at Grace Lutheran Church with burial in Glendale Cemetery Akron.

Local businessman Fredrick recovering after heart attack

R. V. Fredrick, a prominent Wooster business man, is reported to be doing nicely after a heart attack on November 25. He remains in Wooster Community Hospital. Mrs. Fredrick said Thursday morning it was a light heart attack but gave no clue when he may be released.

Water resources survey underway in the county

The Division of Water of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources conducts a regional water survey in southeast Medina, northeast Wayne, southwest Summit, and northwest Stark counties. The 435 square mile Chippewa basin includes Rittman, Doylestown, Wadsworth, Akron, Barberton, Medina, and Orrville with maps and soils data to assess current use, supplies, and potential development.

A window display assembles Rogues Hollow artifacts including coal from Volcano Mine Coke from ovens and red burnt stones and oven clay. Coloring contest enters second week in Rittman Press

The Rittman Press informs readers that the coloring contest has entered its second week. Entrants must submit colored cartoons by 4 p.m. Monday December 16, with winners announced in the December 19 edition. Fifteen prizes are planned. Entries may be mailed to Broker Ba man Ohio or delivered to the office, with name address and age on the back. Participants must be 6 to 11 years old and may enter multiple times.

Rittman school board funds updated and remodel plans approved

The Rittman school board debated high school remodeling, principal hire, and land transfer for a public library. It authorized 29580 for refurbishing high school rooms, corrected drafting table orders, and set library land transfer terms with an eight year option to reclaim. It also set gym rental fees, updated room numbering, and approved a May 25 29 senior trip costing 60 dollars.

Rittman Indians Open New Gym With Win Over Smithville

Rittman hosts Norwayne in their 1957 58 season opener after a string of two straight victories at home. Jim Goffinet and Sonny Schaul led Rittman with 20 points apiece as they defeated Smithville 77 54 in a high scoring game. Dick Williams added 15 and Williams led with nine free throws. Doylestown later fell 70 42 as the Indians surged to a 16 9 first quarter lead and widened to 53 31 by the third. Reserves also saw action while eight players scorched the scoresheet.

Twin Ghosts Haunt Rogues Hollow In Ohio Tale

An old ghost tale from Rogues Hollow claims twin ghosts appeared on a moonlit night near a Clinton Road chestnut tree. Ray Cleckner recalls Ringler walking from Doylestown about midnight and recounts the eerie clumpity clump of footsteps, a story Ringler allegedly told for years.

Students occupy addition at new fish school

Classrooms in the new fish school addition were occupied this week while minor wiring painting and finishing work remains. The general contractor must install hallway lockers and complete ground grading. Lockers were delayed enroute and not yet received at press time. Completion follows over a year and a half of construction.

New Ruthnamt school board members George Grilli and Robert Stoolmiller attended a Kent State clinic. The group, more than 10 northeastern school board members, attended the program on November 1.

Santa Claus to Attend Rittman Christmas Party

Plans for the fourth annual community Christmas party for children are set for December 21 at 6 30 p.m. at the Rittman Fire Station. About 600 local youngsters are expected to attend as Santa will distribute Christmas boxes donated by Ohio Boxboard Co. and filled by the Recreation Advisory Council and local clubs. The event is supported by the Chamber of Commerce Lions Club American Legion Auxiliary Rotary Club Volunteer Firemen Three Arts Club and many other civic groups.

Newcomers club members met at Mrs Davis Whelpsy home to arrange a square dance on December 27 at the high school. Mel Stockdale's orchestra of Wooster will play with Al Swinchart as caller. The speaking program did not occur due to bad weather.
