Kenneth N. Lance 60 Rites Held at First Brethren Church

Services were held for Kenneth N. Lance age 60 of 100 North Third who died after a two week illness at Orrville Osteopathic Hospital. He worked 42 years at Packaging Corporation of America and leaves wife June two daughters and five brothers with 11 grandchildren. Burial in Rittman Cemetery. Gillman Funeral Home handled arrangements with Rev. Charles Tuvenner officiating.

Orrville Osteopathic Hospital Announces $2.3 Million Expansion

The Orrville Community Osteopathic Hospital Board approves a 2.3 million expansion with four new surgery suites an updated ICU expanded emergency rooms and 100 additional beds. Ground breaking is planned for early spring with Mollilieu Ross and Roberts architects.

Al Imhoff Elected President as City Council Swears In

After swearing in new members, City Council certified local tax rates with Rittman rates totaling 512 mills. The council urged revenue changes as income tax support falls short of state and charter requirements. Services were Saturday in New London Connecticut for Mrs Jeanne Southworth 45 daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Grant She died Thursday at Yale New Haven Medical Center where she had been a patient for five weeks A native of Smithville she was a World War II veteran serving as a corporal in the Womens Army Corps She and her husband Douglas S Southworth operated the Latch string Restaurant in Niantic Conn She was a vice president of the corpora l In addition to her parents and husband she is survived by two sons Bryan Lee and Brett Alan both at home a daughter Candice J also of the home and one brother Gerald L Grant of Rittman

Death of John E. Ryneer in Medina county car train crash

John E. Ryneer 27 of Wadsworth died when his car collided with a train at the Ohio 162 and B&O junction south of Medina. Survived by wife Bonnie L and children John Edward Can di Jo Anne, parents Mr and Mrs George Ryneer, grandparents and many siblings. Burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Wadsworth. Brother Paul Carson officiated.

Rittman High School vocal group and instrumental department present a Christmas program Sunday December 14 at 3 p.m. in the gym with no admission. Carolyn Warren and Dennis Antram direct. Downtown merchants and Shopping Center shops decorate. Three $50 awards for best decorated home church and business. Jan 29 set for annual banquet and Citizen of the Year selection. Three Arts Club Donates to Youth Center

The Three Arts Club met at Mrs. Frank Hisem’s home and voted to donate $150 to the youth center. A Christmas music program by the Choralettes of Ryttman High School featured the meeting, with Mrs. Allan Broadhurst presenting a talk on Madonnas and displaying her collection. Refreshments were served by the hostess and Mrs. Lindsey Williams.

Hershman Garden and Supply Company breaks ground for a new 60 by 178 foot warehouse and showroom on South Main Street in Rittman. Charles Hershman cites friendly locals as rationale. The firm, a top distributor for Hahn Eclipse gear, will relocate with 8 000 square feet of warehouse and a 30 by 27 showroom plus offices and shop. Marvin Snyder leads parts and repair. American Legion Auxiliary Unit Hosts Wayne Council Meeting

Plan Marshallville unit of the American Legion Auxiliary hosted the Wayne County Council meeting with Dora Wright presiding. Harvest Art Show draws about 600 attendees and awards

The Harvest Art Show sponsored by the Fine Arts Foundation closed Sunday after a successful run. About 600 people visited with 68 adults entering exhibits including 19 from Rittman. First place winners included Carl Rastorfer in prints and in figure drawing and landscape, Chris Tine Blough in design, and Linda Wilson in experimental and assemblage. The Best of Show was Pioneer Trail Farm by Lorrain Kuhlen. The Foundation bought two paintings totaling 45 dollars.
