Detectives under State Prohibition Officer Park assisted by Sheriff Lautzenheiner and others raided several homes in Rittman resulting in the seizure of about twelve gallons of raisin jack and corn whisky. Several men were arrested and fined. one refused and was sent to Canton workhouse. A separate meeting formed the Rittman Orchards Company to purchase 14 acres, develop an apple crop, hire an overseer, and secure funding and incorporation.

Federal quarantine regulations announced by Secretary of Agriculture Henry C Wallace restrict shipping of a list of produce from infested areas in Ohio without federal inspector examination. Gas well struck on farm near Wooster in Canaan township
On a Wooster area farm in Canaan township owned by J H Campbell a gas well was completed after drilling to 2207 feet. The well producing 2,806 000 cubic feet of gas daily, with Campbell holding one eighth production and Van Over’s Wooster firm owning about one fourth on the well.
