Rittman Families Attend National Conference and Local Events

Debbie Widmer and Joanne Widmer traveled to Point Loma College San Diego for the National Brethren Youth Conference visiting San Diego Harbor zoo Sea World and other attractions. The Trogdon and Hill families joined gatherings in Wadsworth Sterling and Akron while noting church services and sightseeing. Freshman orientation set for August 26 at Rittman High School with schedule details and dress code.

Bicentennial Chorus Plans Apple Festival Pageant

The Bicentennial Chorus meets at 7 p.m. in the American Legion Hall on West Sunset Drive in costume for conjunction with the Bicentennial pageant at 7 30 p m on the Apple Festival grounds.

Water Rates Council Proposes Balloon Flight at Apple Festival

The Ohio balloon will ascend at the Rittman Apple Festival next Thursday or Friday evening weather permitting. The ascent is planned about one hour before sunset, with Gary Miller noting the festival is fortunate to host the famous balloon, owned by Jim Sabo of Rittman.

Apple Queen to Reign at Rittman Apple Festival

Kathy Alford leads 1976 Rittman Apple Festival Queen contest with Dottie Moore Carol Morgan and Debbie Widmer as entrants. Crowning at 7 30 p m on festival grounds by last year’s Queen Sue Davies. Judges include Al Howland Mrs John Vanderaar and Mrs Jan Forbes.

Canal Fulton Apple Festival Week Calendar of Events

Community activities span August 25 to 30 with senior trips to Canal Fulton Playhouse for Fiddler on the Roof, Rotary and VFW meetings, Apple Festival hours, Queen crowning, parades, music by Mr. Duffield and The Wood Brothers, a pet parade, CB club coffee break, and Legion and Tops gatherings at local venues.

Bids On City Equipment Take Center Stage At Meeting

Council heard a report from Councilman Imhoff on McDonald Corporations water rate plan to raise 1977 revenue to about 113000 plus 163000 from a percent income tax for the Rittman system. The proposed minimum is 9.60 per 8,000 gallons with stepped rates up to 1 million gallons, sparking questions about cost increases and funding.

Apple Festival Activities Begin This Thursday

The Apple Festival opens at 6 p.m. Thursday August 26 and runs through Sunday August 29 with varied events. Parade forms Saturday at 10 30 a.m. on Industrial Street and travels to Sunset and the festival grounds. The parade features over 50 entries including guards floats bands and political candidates. Parade marshal is Barbara Ramaier 1975 Citizen of the Year and judges include Joan Hartzler Mayor Hall and city Manager Moedt. Twenty exhibitors occupy 240 percent of Industrial tent space. seven game booths operate in the game tent. Food tents offer Swiss Blisses apple products ice cream pies and beverages. Special events include crowning the Festival Queen Thursday 7 30 p.m. and a 1 30 p.m. Saturday Pet Parade. Rides are provided by Sunny Amusements. Advance ride tickets are half price before opening. Festival sponsors include five organizations and local businesses. The 76 Festival Committee lists Lois Retana Rae Knapic Dolores Franks and others from Deltas Three Arts Firefighters Chamber of Commerce Rotary and other groups.
