Rittman to Relocate City Dump Next Spring

City Manager Macauley Gosney announced the dump at East Ohio and Sunset will be abandoned next spring after negotiations with three area property owners for a new out-of-view site. The move aims to end a decade of controversy and nuisance from illegal dumping and smoke while preserving the approach to Rittman via Route 57 Ohio Avenue. The project plans include six days a week operation for township taxpayers and possibly final beautification with shrubs from the Chamber of Commerce funding.

PCA Improves Salt Street Storm Sewer Project

PCA completes a 690 foot exterior storm sewer addition on Salt Street in Rutman City. The work frees space by removing a parking area and reshaping a near 1,000 square foot site to accommodate about 200 cars with improved drainage and access, funded from PCA’s own resources. Massie Earns Marine Medal for Flight Merit

Marine Gunnery Sergeant Robert E Massie son of Mr and Mrs Charles Massie earned his first medal while serving with the First Marine Aircraft Wing in Vietnam. Massie, entering his 15th year of service, served on a helicopter earning the award for meritorious flight in support of U S and allied ground forces. He graduated in 1953 from Sterling High School and enlisted in September 1933.
