Body of Drowned Boy Found After Long Search
After 64 hours of tireless searching for George Melich six, who drowned in the River Styx last Wednesday, two local boys discovered the body at daybreak Saturday near Easton. Dynamiting and debris loosened the body from the current’s grip, ending a wide search as volunteers, including Boy Scouts, aided in the effort. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Ebert funeral home with burial in Rittman cemetery. survivors include the parents, Steven and Mrs Melich, and a sister Anna.

Auto crash near Warls wards no injuries reported
Mrs. Earl Derhammer and her father I Herks escaped injuries after a Saturday afternoon auto accident just east of Warls Worthy. Derhammer was driving and attempted a left turn into an oncoming car at excessive speed. Fenders running boards and a gear were damaged. Damages are covered by insurance and not yet estimated.

Funeral Services Held For Mrs William Whitman
Funeral services were held Saturday morning for Mrs William Whitman age 84, mother of Anthony and Edward Whitman, at SS Peter and Paul church in Doylestown. Rev John Frey officiated. She died Thursday after a five week illness. A lifelong Chippewa township resident, she was the daughter of Conrad and Ann Garbach. She belonged to the Altar Society and Christian Mothers Society. Surviving are Anthony and Edward of Rittman, Levi of Marshallville, Harald of Boylestown, Mrs Howard Sebrell of Wadsworth, and Mrs E Miller of Akron, along with 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Interment was in the church cemetery.
