Body of Drowned Boy Found After Long Search

After 64 hours of tireless searching for George Melich six, who drowned in the River Styx last Wednesday, two local boys discovered the body at daybreak Saturday near Easton. Dynamiting and debris loosened the body from the current’s grip, ending a wide search as volunteers, including Boy Scouts, aided in the effort. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Ebert funeral home with burial in Rittman cemetery. survivors include the parents, Steven and Mrs Melich, and a sister Anna.

Helen Garman Marries Floyd Winkler at Akron

Auto crash near Warls wards no injuries reported

Mrs. Earl Derhammer and her father I Herks escaped injuries after a Saturday afternoon auto accident just east of Warls Worthy. Derhammer was driving and attempted a left turn into an oncoming car at excessive speed. Fenders running boards and a gear were damaged. Damages are covered by insurance and not yet estimated.

Funeral Services Held For Mrs William Whitman

Funeral services were held Saturday morning for Mrs William Whitman age 84, mother of Anthony and Edward Whitman, at SS Peter and Paul church in Doylestown. Rev John Frey officiated. She died Thursday after a five week illness. A lifelong Chippewa township resident, she was the daughter of Conrad and Ann Garbach. She belonged to the Altar Society and Christian Mothers Society. Surviving are Anthony and Edward of Rittman, Levi of Marshallville, Harald of Boylestown, Mrs Howard Sebrell of Wadsworth, and Mrs E Miller of Akron, along with 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Rev P R Bauman and Aldine Aungst Wed in Pa Home

Reverend Paul R Bauman married Aldine Aungst of Holidaysburg at McKee Brethren Church in her hometown Monday evening. Ceremony performed by Dr Louis Bauman of Long Beach. Attendants included Iva Bauman and John Aungst. Garden reception followed. Soon headed to Los Angeles for his new pastorate with Mrs Bauman, a trained nurse, leaving via Sterling en route to Pacific coast.

The Sterling and Milton Township schools will open Tuesday September 4 at 9 30 a.m. The school house and office open Friday August 31 from 9 00 a.m. to 12 00 m. and 1 00 to 5 00 and 7 00 to 9 00 p.m. Book sales occur that day, new and used. John Fisher of Rittman, famed big game hunter and fisherman, entertained about 35 Sterling Brotherhood members at the United Brethren church with his wildlife films. Scouts to Attend Camporal at Covington KY

The scouts are eligible for this Camporal because of their success du securing a ancient number of points at the District Camporal at Wadaworth and the Akran Area Council Camporal at Camp Manastoc. They are required to set up a model camp and will be graded on those oaks craft personal appearance Scoutcraft and cook craft.
