Rittman Board hikes lunch prices and school hoops repairs
The Rittman Board of Education raised North Street Annex and West Hill School cafeteria lunches from 40 to 45 cents for students and from 75 to 80 cents for adults due to rising food costs, effective the first day of school. Rittman Man Is Charged With Gross Sexual Imposition

Verne Gebhart 82 of 10 Bauman St Rittman died Tuesday after a six year illness born February 19 1893 in Middletown Ohio son of Williard and Phona Gebhart lived in Cleveland before moving to Rittman 55 years ago He retired in 1958 after 40 years as an executive accountant with Packaging Corp of America later worked as water meter reader for the City of Rittman He was a member of Milton United Presbyterian Church charter member of Howard A Bair Post 423 American Legion and Carl W Ellenwood Lodge 715 F and A M He was a former Rittman Board of Education member Surviving wife Hazel a son Williard Grays Lake Ill two daughters Mrs Nancy Babler Dallas Tex and Mrs Virginia Heitman Chicago Ill and nine grandchildren Services were held Friday at 11:00 a.m. from Gillman Funeral Home Rev James E Watt officiated Burial was in Rittman Cemetery Masonic Services were held at 8:30 p.m.

Chippewa Creek Project Pushes Toward 20 Acre Public Lake
Randall Giessler of the U S Soil and Conservation service told watershed leaders at a meeting in Rittman that three of a half miles of channel dredging are done as Chippewa Watershed nears completion in four years. The lower creek work to Rittman should finish this fall. A dry flood dam north of Orrville is nearly complete save for grass sod while a wet dam at Riverstyx is under construction. Geologic work for the lake serving recreation flood control and soil conservation is set to begin in September with assurances sought from the Chippewa Association.
