Jitterbug Winners Lead Boxboard Picnic Highlights
The crowd cheered as Dick Fabinger and Lucille Luedy won the jitterbug contest at the dance pavilion. Umpires Dutch Rauschenberg and Chic Pishuta officiated the ball game later. Ward Yarman and Vernon Wirth led in the canoe tilting contest, with Joe Gaborsky chairing the waterfront program. The event also celebrated weddings, a large family award to Ed Sigler and spouse, and several athletic feats including softball, greased pig, egg toss, and rowboat sprint led by Robert Kyle.

Rittman boxing show draws big crowd and 15 bouts
A crowd of about 2,000 packed the recreation field for Rittman’s second summer boxing show drawing 283 cars on site. Ninety fighters competed in 15 bouts with two technical knockouts and one draw in a night that featured K O Kid Huff losing to Pete Treadway and several decisions.

The Ohile Boxboard Co closed Monday for a family picnic at Chippewa Lake drawing an estimated crowd of over 3000. Events included a 6-5 softball win by the Box Shop over Corrugating-Container, plus a daylong program of youth races and contests with numerous winners noted from 60 yard dashes to balloon breaking and three legged races.

Rittman Silver Dollar Nights Claim Two Winners
The Rittman Silver Dollar Night rewards 15 and 20 silver dollar prizes. Mrs. R. O'Brien of Salt Bt. received the 15-dollar award with Robert Rice presenting. Russell Siders claimed the 20-dollar prize at 9 p.m. with Phyllis St. John assisting. The ceremony moved to Ward's Men’s Wear porch after Civic Association discussion. 45 merchants now participate in the ten-week campaign.
