A pending district judge ruling sets a requirement for medical certificates before marriage licenses issued on or after August 18. The law demands a pre marriage medical examination proving freedom from specified diseases, with applications due five days before license issuance.
The Ritman Vuttre school completes its 1941 42 teaching staff after Supt A Garver recommends Grace Parke of Columbus for fourth grade. Parke replaces Evelyn Smith who left for a Cleveland department store. The district publishes the 1941 42 staff directory naming new hires with asterisk marks and detailing assignments across grades and departments.
Miracle Oscar Mac Miracle, long time Rittman barber, buys out Bain Barber Shop at 129 S Main St and opens his own shop with plans to hire an assistant. He joins the Silver Dollar Night program bringing participants to 45. He was previously at the Haulk shop on the Square and with Joseph Sherrick. He is open for business at the new location.
Monroe County picnic crowds are expected to reach about 600 at Rittman Central Park for the annual Labor Day outing. The event, hosted by the Monroe County group, features a full day of entertainment with a noon picnic and recurring family reunions across August and September, including the Murray Welmer gathering now in its 41st year.
Rittman issued 35 silver dollars to shoppers last Saturday evening. Ray Hostettler of Sterling claimed the first $15 award, followed by Lester Simpson from east of town winning the 9 p.m. award. Forty-five merchants invite all to town again this Saturday night for two awards totaling $35 in silver.

Questionnaires mailed to the first 25 of 1671 year-olds registered at the Fos Cal selective service board on July 1 during the second nationwide R day. Clerks estimate mailing completes within a week as the process includes questionnaires, physical exams, and classification.

Mr and Mrs Frank Schreiber of N Third Gr. welcomed a son on Monday August 11 at Wadsworth Hospital. A son was born Wednesday August 18 to Mr and Mrs Clair Amstutz of Rittman RD north, Mrs Amstutz formerly Miss Mildred Shook.
