Manatoc Camp Hosts Five Boy Scouts Week
Five Boy Scouts from the Stem ing camp enjoyed a weeklong outing at Camps Manatec returning Sunday. The group included Merle Halliwell, Robert Halliwell, Junior Reynolds, Melvin Jennings and Billy Cunningham. They rode Harvey Firestone horses made available to the boys and celebrated their Cowboy Week experience.
Dam That Isn’t Might Have Prevented Flood Seen
Mayor Charles A. Spyder and others argued the postponed Rittman dam in Muskingum Conservancy district could have reduced flood damage. They cited a proposed barrier north of town on the River Styx valley at Wadsworth road to hold flood waters, protecting hundreds of acres of farms and city property. The old Wadsworth road remained under water for a quarter mile and the new highway was partially impassable.
