Rittman Pool Sells Passes for 1973 Season

Frank Roys, manager of the Rittman City Pool, announces season passes on sale at City Hall. Family passes cost 15 dollars, single passes 8 dollars through May 26, then 20 and 10 dollars until June 2. No passes after June 2. Pool opens May 26 with varied weekly schedules, then opens June 9 until Labor Day. Regulations posted at the pool. Guards to be announced. Pool hours align with last year.

Rittman Teams Schedule Baseball Track Events Through May

Rittman schedules include April 25 hosting Hillsdale in baseball, April 28 at Doylestown relays, April 30 traveling to Norwayne, May 1 home track versus Norwayne, and May 2 hosting Waynesdale. Also April 26 OES Chapter 529 meets at 7 30 p m and May 1 Bloodmobile at Legion Hall noon to 6 p m.

Frankel Newman Rep Speaks on City Planning Focus

Walter Newman of Frankel Newman and Associates spoke at an open meeting about the firm’s emphasis on comprehensive planning for small communities. He described reducing staff from 80 90 to six and six in Oxford and Cleveland Heights offices, handling two or three communities annually. Newman said the firm conducts its own surveys writes final drafts and does not deploy young graduates. Prof Frankel cited as Dean of Planners has global recognition and White House talks. He noted study trips to Russia and Europe and criticized Russian short range planning while emphasizing realistic community plans.

Wayne General Deans List Named for Winter Quarter

Akron University announces the Wayne General and Technical College Dean's Honor List for the 1973 Winter Quarter. Students with 3.2 or higher GPA for 12+ hours qualify, including Nancy Berkey and Jean Rohrer of Rittman, Paul Conrad and Jerry Schar of Sterling, Charles Paridon II of Doylestown, and Lynn Brooker of Marshville.

PTO Auction Proceeds Help Rittman Scholars

The Annual PTO Auction at Rittman Middle School on April 28 funds scholarships for two Rittman High School seniors and renews existing grants. Volunteers lead a large donation drive and a Fun Festival while merchants donate items. call organizers for consignments or booth space.

Weidman Rites Held After Illness at Medina Funeral Home

Robert J Weidman 50 of 535 W Ridgewood Road Wadsworth died April 17 at home after a year long illness. Born July 29 1922 in Wooster Ohio he lived in Wayne County most of his life and moved to Medina 14 years ago. He was an auto body man retired. Survived by wife Nina Jean Thompsons Weidman four children Paul Jo Danner Nancy Jean Wyman Sue Ellen Weidman Allan Robert three grandchildren mother Nancy Breneman Weidman two brothers Ralph Weidman and Carl. Private services were held April 20 at Waite and Son Funeral Home Medina and cremation followed.

RHS Fine Arts Guest Soloists

The Rittman High School instrumental department presents the Third Annual Fine Arts Festival on Sunday May 6 at 3pm in the Middle School gym. Performers include the sixth grade band the high concert band the high school stage band and the high school concert band. Guest soloists are John Orsini from Kent State University and Gary Rusneck from Akron University. Orsini backs the stage and concert bands with My Old Flame and a Caprenters salute while Rusneck plays Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the concert band. Ordinance Initiates Smoke Testing Program for City Sewers

City Council instructed City Solicitor Carl Bradford to draft an ordinance with Engineering Associates to begin a smoke testing program on sewers at the Monday session. The plan, titled the Sanitary Infiltration Abatement Program, carries an estimated total of 14200 dollars with labor and materials breakdown and priority areas including Sunset Heights and North Main.

Farm Accident Claims Life of Local Boy

Charles Fenstermaker 18 was crushed to death by a loading machine on his father's Medina County farm while cleaning a barn. He was a Black River High School graduate and active in 4-H and Holstein associations. Funeral services set for Thursday at Parker Funeral Home Lodi.

Artists Enter Work Sunday Art Show set to showcase Rittman works

Artists will bring original pieces to the 8th annual Art Show at Rittman City Hall next Sunday with entries limited to five works per artist. Judges will award blue ribbons for Artist's Best and pick a Best of Show while seven cash prizes honor top Rittman scenes. The Ohio's biggest artist palette will stand eight feet tall outside City Hall to advertise show hours Thursday through Sunday May 3 to 6 from 3 to 8 pm.
