Rittman Prom Set For April 30 With Dinner and Show

Ohio Fuel Gas plans $34 million 1971 drilling push

Columbia Gas System affiliate Ohio Fuel Gas Co. launches a $34 million 1971 program to drill 14 new wells in Wayne Holmes and Richland counties and conduct deep geophysical surveys to boost natural gas supplies in Ohio. The effort supports storage facility expansion and serves Columbia Gas of Ohio and 25 other Ohio utilities. WF Wesolek, manager, notes over $13 million for drilling and surveys as part of broader system aims to add reserves.

Gas Winter Gas Winter in Its Traditional Southwest and Appalachian Areas

The System outlines a broad plan to diversify gas supply including importing LNG, tapping Canadian and Alaska gas, and researching coal gas production. Sixty new storage wells and 10 replacements will be drilled with 50 reconditioned wells to ensure next winter’s service. Total cost is about 22 million dollars. Wells will be drilled in Ohio Fuel's 14 storage fields across Lucas Pavonia Ashland Richland Weaver counties.

PTA Auction Festival at Rittman Middle School

Local merchants donated items including a sunbeam cordless toothbrush and a 1965 pickup truck for a PTA Auction Festival starting 9 a.m. Saturday April 24 at Rittman Middle School. Two auctioneers will work all day with refreshments, games, free movies, and proceeds supporting two existing scholarships and two new ones.
